Unrelated, but I am surprised they let you in the campgrounds with that fire wood. You are really only supposed to use wood from the area.

How to Help - Don't Move Firewood

It looks like it's actually even illegal in Texas. Texas - Don't Move Firewood

As far as they know I bought down the street from the park. But that article seems pretty vague. Something about quarantine regions. Honestly though, 36 years of camping and bringing our own wood here in Texas and never once have been asked about where it came from.

This is interesting.
I'm going to move this from the 5th Gen section to OT where more people may benefit.

It's like 101 to never bring firewood not from the area, into the area.

Anyways

I have the Kuat Pivot, which I mainly use for my bike rack on the 4runner, that I also pair up with the hitch carrier. Works well to unlatch and swing the entire bike rack or carrier out. For those with dogs, or who want access to the trunk without the carrier in the way, Check out the Kuat Pivot. It does add about 10 inches of length to whatever you are putting in the hitch though.

I'd probably scrub the post about transporting firewood.

Different states different rules.
Park Rules — Texas Parks & Wildlife Department
Your in Virginia and the Great Smokey Mountains National park is not in Texas. I'll leave it there and stop beating the dead horse.

Texas Department of Agriculture Website > Regulatory Programs > Plant Quality > Pest and Disease Alerts > Emerald Ash Borer

It's actually pretty much illegal to move firewood in every state. Some are just more serious about enforcing it.

Most places it's local up to 20 miles.

The link you provided only talks about moving wood from quarantined areas. Which according to the link you posted is only Harrison county. I dont live there either. Kinda funny how a thread about hitch baskets turn to wood transportation moan fest. Sorry OP

The carriers are very handy. What class hitch do you have? I, II, III.
The Tongue Weight Capacity of hitch is something to consider when loading it up.

I never saw a need for one of these till I saw this picture!!!! my biggest complaint of camping was hauling wood! this literally is the best idea ever

No idea. It's a 5th gen, 2018. Still haven't decided if I'm going to go 48" or 60" wide.

If tow capacity is 5k pounds it's class 3 most of time.

What is that model for that $$$? - @Soneill

Hey @Soneill
What model did you get?
That is EXACTLY what I need it for (no rules where I am in CO to move wood I took down in my yard to the spot I am camping).

I need it within 2 days so lest I find a store with it (NOT a fan of HF)- I have to Amazon it. I have a shot spine and firewood on my roof is a nightmare.

THANKS anyone that can suggest what that model is at that low price.

COS

Was it this? I can have it b4 I leave. Cheap and fine for the little I'd use it.
