Most unforgettable? Going to Iraq for 12 months. Then coming home.

I happened to cross Europe from Lisbon to Moscow. It was quite an interesting experience. I was with my family: my wife and kiddo. The first thing we did to start our trip was to buy a decent baby seat (our previous was good but we felt it wasn't ok for long distance travels). I spent quite a time on bestcarseathub.com/ to find the best option. Then just in case, we got an extended first aid kit, some canned food, and a tent. It was a long, sometimes tedious, but ultimately amazing trip.

I was driving south on Rte 13, N.Y.to VA beach. Just south of Dover there was a bird in the road in front of me. As I got closer the bird got bigger and I expected him to fly away. He did not. So I looked to change lanes, but of course someone was pacing me in the left lane, I guess it's a law when driving on 13 that you must pace the car next to you. Bird got bigger still. I cringed and waited for a thump and flying feathers, but right at the moment of impact the bird jumped up and opened its 5' wide wings catching the slip steam and riding it up and over the contour of my Bronco. As he swept up over the hood effortlessly, I was in awe of what was obviously a bald egal. Who knew they had such creatures in Delaware? Up and over the hood, windshield and gone, I could count the feathers.

My brother hit a bald eagle in Montana once. There were a bunch of them feasting on an elk carcass near the road, and as my brother passed one of the eagles suddenly flew right in front of him -- no way to avoid it. The eagle was badly injured. Fortunately a forest ranger was right behind my brother's vehicle and was able to put the poor thing out of its misery.
