A long ways from the bottom. Probably 90+ days before the buying opportunity. And then it depends on how deep and long lasting the resulting economic impact is. The economic impact and resulting damage to much of the worlds population will have a much bigger and damaging effect than the virus itself.

Silver is down even more. $12 low

I'm slashing my limit buys further... deals dont quite seem like deals anymore.

This is what is on my radar right now.

BA, HD, MCD, DIS, FB, MSFT, GM, HMC, GE, SBUX, BRK-B, QQQ, PCK, SPY, DIA, XLI, XLM, ACWX, FEZ, VEA, VWO, VGK, VOOG, VTI, VIG

Wish I was back in the Market, being on Medicare is limited funds. I still hold Asian Funds and some US funds. silver has dropped so much, 10 ounce bars look exciting now.

If you buy individual dividend-paying stocks, look into Clorox CLX.

I believe that now is a perfect opportunity to buy some stocks or crypto as they have just fallen down greatly.

Nice recommendation... it did extremely well today.

That plus the food companies are doing very well in this market. KR (Kroger) +6% and GIS (General Mills) +11.8%

Been wanting to buy VTSAX ($3000 initial buy in) fund but only put 200-300 to my IRA a month. considering using this time to drop the $3k and get into the fund while its low then I will just stop contributing to the IRA for the year, But also trying to pile some cash being in the oil market

Definitely been following closely. Big opportunity here if you can time it right.
Watching BA closely as their value has absolutely plummeted.
A bio-tech company working on a vaccine as well, INO.

Gold always seems to do well during a crash so following that too with JNUG GDXJ JDST.

Lots of potential with the bigger guys too if you're looking more long term. AAPL, AMZN, heck even TSLA.

Aside from buying indexes, I am looking for value. DIS, BA, HD, KO, JNJ, MSFT... too many to list.

Trying to stay away from companies that are working on too much borrowed capital. Look for quality companies like Microsoft.

Even if you don't time it perfectly it's ok as long as you are investing for the long term.

If you plan on putting money in, don't expect to use it any time soon. Most of my buys are all part of a 10-20 year plan. I have a feeling its going to be a long road to recovery... perhaps years.

If you want me to be 100% honest, I've been laddering/averaging in, but feel like I started the process too soon. Even when something was 20% down, it didn't take much for it to move down another 20% ... this was of course in fear of missing the bottom but it is what it is.

Looking back at this post... sounds like this isn't your first market crash.

Some experienced comments here.

Not my first time seeing this. Just never seen it like this. I didn't do as well this time as I have done before. I just didn't do what I thought I should do. Instead I took a snowmobile trip with some friends. So I got caught. I did have a lot of liquidity for another reason. So it coud have been worse for me, could have been better if I had paid attention better. Oh well. Every blind squirrel finds a nut once in a while. So now going forward. When the buying opportunity happen, and will it be gradual, or rapid. If you know that, please share your knowledge.

I guess that investing into European property is one of the most profitable things now. It is not as risky as, say investing into cryptocurrency. My fellow real estate agent says that in any respect Spanish property has the biggest potential to recover after the 2020 crisis. Btw this very RE agent was absolutely right about his financial forecast in 2008. In his opinion apartments in Costa Blanca are of special financial attraction. Have a look at the present offers El Campello property for sale (Costa Blanca, Alicante, Spain) - buy real estate | virtoproperty.com. In a couple of years they are likely to cost 10-15% more.

I'm back above where I was before it tanked. In fact enough to cover our living expenses for the first 6 months of the year. So I'm feeling pretty good. that's scary. I'm moving toward a bigger cash position. I expect when earnings start to come out, the market will go down again. Then the uncertainty of elections will continue the slide, then the big inflation will start to hit. Inflation caused by the gubermint printing all kinds of stimulus money. So yes I'm long term pessimistic.
One bright spot may be vegan food companies. there is growth there, and I think it will continue. I'm not a proponent or anything like that. But I see lots of people going that way with their diet.

I've been vegan for a few years now and know a lot of people deep into the community. It's nothing new as of this year but 'plant based' and vegan is a gigantic cash cow right now. A lot of giant corporations are diving into it with false representations of who they are. There's also a lot of companies who claim to be 100% plant based but test on animals/etc.

You might want to start reading /r/vegan and see some of the gossip that is going around. I won't be anyone here to tell anyone else how to live though, not my thing. I just sold my house and am wondering if I was better off investing the money all of these years and with recent freedom want to build up my 4runner and go out exploring more
