Are you OK?

Why in someones common sense perfectly looking at someone 4 feet away in pain and suffering ask:

Are you OK?

Why ask that?

I see it all the time. Was driving and a motorcycle vs car happened minutes before and the biker guy is in middle of street screaming in pain probably broken ribs as hes holding chest area and this random guy walking by goes towards the biker and asks:

Are you OK?

WHY PEOPLE ASK THIS?

I DONT. I SAY yeah youre screwed.

Because they're seeing something like this in person for the first time and they don't know how to react. "Yeah you're screwed" isn't any better.

A.V.P.U.
Alert, Verbal, Pain, Unconscious. It's a quick way of judging a victim's level of consciousness. First thing you do as you approach a casualty. Even on the battlefield.

Health is very important

I agree this is very strange when someone sees that guy screaming out of pain and still asks such a useless question. Health is not a toy. Everyone must understand this and for better understanding, read the health essays on Health: Your Free Essay Examples and Topics at EduZaurus and it will change your mind and help with education.

Can confirm.

The simple act of asking a question to a casualty will tell you if their airway is open or not.

Boom, scratch that off of your casualty assessment list and move onto the next injury.

A simple conversation can actually help keep someone out of shock for a bit. Could get important information to help first responders (the person first on the scene) in knowing where the injury is. Treating a casualty like a person not a slab of meat goes a long way. Granted your not standing around having a conversation, your treating the injuries. Or you can just say "your screwed" record the whole thing on you phone and hope you can live with yourself later.
