I kind of like the look, but the design isn't very practical IMHO. I prefer a truck that make maximum use of its "footprint". The sloped back of the Cybertruck is just the opposite -- it limits how much gear you could haul. And the sloped front limits your headroom and cabin space.
Also the bulletproof glass is a lawsuit in the making. In an accident no one will be able to break the glass, so if the car's burning or sinking in water you're screwed.
And of course, it still has all the major drawbacks of any electric vehicle -- insanely slow recharge times, costly infrastructure needed for charging, incompatible chargers, and ever different charger requires you to use their app to make payment rather than accepting credit cards. (I would never use my phone to pay for anything -- it's too risky.)

The Rivian interior really speaks to me, personally. It looks very comfortable, contemporary, and luxurious. I have doubts about how far along Tesla really is on their truck.

The Model 3 is a smooth, quiet, fast, and relatively stress-free ride and it's quite fun on twisty mountain roads. The only thing it's "lacking" is engine/exhaust noise.
The Rivian (I have a pre-order on an R1S) may look better, but its performance is nowhere near similar.
Rivian R1S/R1T at $70k (lowest spec):
4.9s 0-60
230 miles of range
Tesla CT at $70k (highest spec):
2.9s 0-60
500+ miles of range
I hope Rivian drops their price after the CT reveal because as of now the CT blows them out of the water in basically everything other than looks.

They put a hundred dollar "deposit" down. That's a lot less than was required on previous Tesla "reservations".

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder but the only good thing that came out of that reveal was the quad.

Free money for Elon.
The man is a better scammer than PT Barnum.
Also deposits of $100 don't equal people putting up hard cash if this thing ever comes to production.

Tesla, as a company- sucks balls.
Solar City is just sad. What they are doingis criminal in some cases.
The power wall sucks. The solar tile sucks.
They are not following through on contractual obligations to their clients, leaving them spending thousands for various reasons.
Their turnaround time to remove panels from a roof is 8-12 months and then reinstall is “unknown”.
So you’re just left without panels, and holding the bill- average $4K-$10K to remove and reinstall, even though they promised flat rate of $500.00.
There should be a class action lawsuit coming.
They over promise and under deliver. On EVERYTHING.
Another poster hit the nail on the head- PT barnum incarnate. Musk is a wanker.
Thing that pisses me off the most is our tax dollars subsidize these stupid cars for upper middle class *******s to buy...
They sure do have some fan boys.
It’s like Jeeps. They suck but people love them. It’s an image to project.
Highest maintenance costs in the business. With slow turnaround times for any repairs being done.
Cutting corners, it’s the Tesla way. Their shit absolutely needs those every 12,000 mile inspection to fix all the shortcomings.
And don’t tell me “they’re new, growing pains” BS.
Not everything on a Tesla is low quality, but much of the components they choose are well below industry standards and it shows after a year or two.
Insurance to own is very high.
Musk decided to use you as a beta tester instead of properly testing his shit. That’s pretty shitty.
Tesla drivers have the highest incidence of accidents. Versus all other brands...
Oh yeah, the auto drive doesn’t detect vehicles that aren’t moving...whoops...
Their fatality rate is triple that of other luxury vehicle manufacturers.
But Eli doesn’t give a shit about you stupid people who he believes should die anyways to help save the environment, so he just lies about it every chance he gets and Tesla is not solving any of the major problems.
It’s a poorly run corporation that barely scrapes by in times of economic growth. Without the subsidies, it would be gone.
They will go out of business in the next 5-10 years and leave all you fan boys pissing in the wind with a vehicle that won’t last much longer than a couple of years without MAJOR investment.
Oh yeah, hope you like all the rattling and the non fix for it.
Tesla sucks.

I've done a complete 180 and really like the cybertruck now. A blacked out model would be awesome.

Speaking of 180, that's the price I should have bought some more stock at.

I instantly recognized the quad since I own one… it is a Yamaha Raptor 700. Not really a Tesla product, but was used to make a point.
Either way, the demonstration was designed to help drive the point home for people like myself who ride quads and have dealt with transport and loading in the bed. It has from the start been one of the most annoying/dangerous parts of loading for a trip, and preparing to leave from one. Built in ramp is pretty huge when compared to traditional methods.

Sure some "hate" might be deserved but frankly if you cant see how Tesla has changed the auto industry (in multiple areas) you aren't paying attention. Drive one, and then go sit in your 5th gen with 10+ year old "tech" all the while making excuses like "yeah but more tech equates to more things to break" and other nonsense to make you(us) feel better. Compare Tesla Autopilot to a 4runner which only in 2020 just got adaptive cruise control hahah.
Some of the stock price is just based on the innovation potential alone. Faith in game changers so to speak.
