It works well. You spend a little more time on the set up but worth the investment. just make sure you pick up a bottle of tempilaq - takes the guess work out of the process.

hope all is well with everyone! despite being busy with other projects and my full time job, i managed to do something ive wanted to do for a while. i drew, printed, and shot some 3d printed 9mm projectiles out of my ar9 that i just got back up and running again.

they still need tweaking, but they did seal up against the rifling and stabilize. once i get the size and profile finalized i will be putting metal weights in the center to try and get them to weigh more. right now they are just shy of 14 grains. if you want to see pics check out @booozyhoperators on IG (3 o's).

i also finished my ar10 build and now i need to buy a mighty armory 308 sizing die as i absolutely hate the hornady sizing die i have; the expander ball is way too hard on my machine. its been a very warm winter where i am at with very little snow, so i have been tacking advantage of that.

Interesting concept. curious to see how they hold up with a little more powder and what bullet design you come up with to stabilize.

I have the might armory decapping die and they are awesome!!

i basically re drew a gallant 125gr round nose coated projectile. its close but its not a perfect match of the gallant bullet. i recovered 2 projectiles and you can tell they sealed against the rifling, they also stabilized okay. i shot them through a chrono, but i was having issues with the thing and didnt get good readings.

right now the biggest issue is trying to get some mass inside these projectiles. i might give lead a shot or see if i can find some 25 acp projectiles to up the weight. its sort of counter intuitive to stuff a bullet into a 3d printed bullet, but i guess that is whats needed to get it done. someone suggested stuffing the prints with tungsten, but i was told i will likely run into some sort of legal issue (armor piercing stuff?). its also incredibly expensive compared to lead. i think im going to give lead a shot first; although i need to finalize my ogive and bullet OAL profile first before i move on.

Been reloading off and on for 30 years. RCBS gear.

I've worked up some good (in my guns) big game hunting loads for .270 Wthby, .300 Wthby, .340 Wthby (my all-time favorite), & .375 H&H using Barnes bullets. The price of factory Weatherby ammo has approached $5 per round last time I looked, so 3-5 boxes of 20 for validating sight-in, plinking, and hunting for a season could get expensive. I used to live in Fairbanks, AK so I hunted caribou and moose annually, and bear occasionally, hence the heavy metal preferences.

For prairie dog shooting, I found some really accurate (for my guns) factory ammo for my .17HMR, .223, and .22-250, and using a single stage setup like I own to prepare hundreds of rounds of each of these would be too tedious.

Hope all has been well with everyone during these odd times. i am deemed 'essential' so im still at work, otherwise id be at home cranking out a bunch of rounds.

i did how ever manage to load up some 73gr hornady eld match and some 75gr BTHP projectiles in 223/556. now the snow is here and i cant get to my 100+yd shooting spot. my ar10 had to be sent to a smith due to ejection issues, now thats on its way back i guess ill load a little for that as well so when the snow clears ill have plenty of accuracy testing to do.

i put off the 9mm 3d printed bullet thing for a while because i couldnt figure out how to make them heavier without a metal insert. which IMO, is counter productive to 3d printing bullets in the first place. i re drew a new profile last night and will shoot some again as soon as the snow melts in the shorter shooting stalls. you can buy plastic infused tugnsten, but its like 200-300 bucks for a roll and i am still not sure if it would be heavy enough to create enough mass to cycle the bolt.

Hope ya'll are staying safe and getting caught up on the loading!
