Get rid of it whatever way you can. I used to have a feral cat that would wonder on my street. My wife and I used to call him Hiv because it was the ugliest, roughest looking cat and his fur was a mess of all kinds of colors. Every once in a while it would poop on the grass next to my drive way. It would leave the worst smell and he would smear it everywhere. He would also lay on top of the hoods of our car on cold nights and leave scratches on the paint. I don't know what happened to him, but Im glad its gone.

I didn't say that at all. In Fact the three legged story came after I even commented and it sounds like he was a problem child.

Australia is purging ferrals for good reason. Not sure it's merited in the states tho.

Don't put words in my mouth and make me sound like some pita nutjob.

Trap, sterilize, and release/or find homes. They don't live long lives as ferals.

Culling the herd is a bit extreme they don't breed like hogs.
While they don’t breed as fast as hogs, they are no slouches either. I disagree about offing them not being necessary. They cost money AND kill billions of birds. Together that should be plenty of justification for killing them.
“Feral cats—domestic cats that live outdoors and are ownerless—account for $17 billion in economic loss from predation on birds in the U.S. every year, a new, peer-reviewed paper by University of Nebraska-Lincoln researchers finds......There are an estimated 60 million feral cats in the U.S., and as many or more kitties kept as pets. The study reports that cats are responsible for the extinction of at least 33 avian species worldwide, and the felines kill an estimated 480 million birds a year. Besides predation, feral cats also carry and transmit diseases such as cat scratch fever, plague, rabies, and toxoplasmosis. (States require pet cats to be vaccinated).”

As for trap and sterilize, “Many feral cat advocates support trap, neuter, and release (TNR, or TNVR—‘v’ is for vaccinate) programs, and have successfully gotten city ordinances passed that allow for maintaining feral cat colonies. Cook County's 2007 ordinance, for example, permits residents to manage colonies as long as they neuter, spay, and vaccinate the animals against rabies and give them microchip implants.

But the report authors don’t think TNR alone will reduce the impact on birds. “No real-world example of eliminating a colony through TNVR exists, and evidence of large-scale colony reduction is anecdotal,” they write. “Furthermore, TNVR can cost over $100 per cat (including trapping, spaying/neutering, vaccination, and transport), and the cats are still able to prey on native birds and mammals.””

My apologies, I was trying for a bit of levity. Even if you were a pita nutjob, I'd understand. With some good hummus, they're quite tasty.

TNR really doesn't work. Feral cats won't breed but they will still be on your property peeing and spreading diseases, ticks etc. This is the same with deer. I live in a disgusting communist socialist city that goes around chopping the balls off of bucks/deer. But they still cause accidents, get diseases like chronic waste, spread Lyme's disease, eat everyone's shrubs and plants.

But as I grow older I learned animals aren't the problem. It's people that are the problem.

Just like how nobody does the right thing anymore.

ARB was generous enough to honor a BP51 shock replacement. God bless them. I took it to my favorite mechanic. The mechanic takes the wheel off, puts the new shock on. Put the wheel back on and tightens the wheel lug nut so tight it snaps the wheel lug in 1/2.

Then he tells me it's not a problem, you can drive with 4 lugs. Get a replacement and will fix it. So I order the wheel lug, $4.00, $10. For shipping. So I get it, bring runner back to him and he tells me oh we're busy come back in an hour, or just come back when you need work done then will put the wheel lug back on.

So I tell him no, I'll see you in an hour. So I go back. They put the runner on the lift., removed the tire, put lug back on putwheel back on. No charge. I get home, look at the wheel and there's a gash in the TRD rim down to the aluminum.

I mean Jesus Christ. Doesn't anyone do the right thing anymore.

.........People. God damnit it, people.

Now I'm gonna spray/touch up the rim to make it matte black again. I'm not gonna ask him to pay for the wheel cause if he denies I'll end up in jail, and I do not want to go to jail., especially over a gashed wheel.

Yeah, Australia in general has a huge human-induced non-native plant/animal/insect problem. Cats are just a small portion of it.
If you’re interested take a look at this list.
List of invasive species in Australia - Wikipedia

But this is nothing new. Been going on since humans began moving from one place to another. It will probably take many methods, many years, and lots of $ to make a dent in the population.

Church right there. Most invasive species on the planet is us.

I get what you where saying in your post tho. I'm no expert on animal control and tbh my neighborhood is full of feral cats.

However I find it sociopathic to kill a relatively harmless sentient creature because it's on your material things.
