For me personally, doing different breathing exercises is very important. I honestly worry a lot about how I feel from time to time. I used to get nervous a lot. But now I try not to do that.

Deep breathing for me. Also, try to get politics out of my head.

Watching old movies on TV help me relax.

Some but not all of my fellow veterans will understand this, I came back from Vietnam 50 years ago basically intact and have lived by 2 rules.
Rule one, don't sweat the small stuff
Rule two, it's pretty much all small stuff

Get away from the causes of the problem sparking sporadically throughout your mind uncontrollably. For example society/the herd, negative energy, social media trash, expectations, materialistic/consumer way of life. Go into the forest or whatever natural isolated areas you have alone and connect with your roots, nature. Do this in a spiritual way with a clear mind. 🙏👽

Before entering a situation that natural instincts would have me avoid, I would tell myself "it's showtime!".
If the situation ambushed me I would l d become detached, analytical. Time would seem to slow.
As far as random panic attacks or anxiety, I don't recall ever experiencing that.

I usually just try to remind my self of the positives in life. Got the car ive wanted for almost 10 years, got my motorcycle, life is good. lol

I know this isn't the answer you're expecting, but for me it's marijuana. I got my medical marijuana card through Marijuana Doctor Jacksonville Beach | Marijuana Doctor, and I think it was a good decision. The clinic is great, and everyone there is a good professional, so if you need someone, it's them. I don't support substance use, but it's better than having anxiety and depression all the time. At the same time, I hope to get off drugs as soon as possible, because they cause me a lot of mental changes, and I don't like being unstable.

COVID restriction has made things worst for those with depression/anxiety. I hope that we as a nation/society learns from this pandemic. I doubt it. But one can only hope.

Sometimes I use Insight Timer for guided meditation, deep-sleep music, or short stories. Love it. My friend used Headspace. I bike- a lot. Well, as much as I can with a toddler I spend a lot of time with.

I'm lucky to live with 40 miles of private trails and unlimited mountain roads to I mountain bike, road bike, and gravel bike right from home. That is probably the best habit I ever picked up. I do that 3-4 times a week.

I can be very analytical and intense, so this really keeps me mellow. My wife would be a basket case if I did not bike. Side benefit- it keeps me lean and my endurance is excellent.
