Jersey Mike's just recently came to NY/NJ.
I used to see it all down South, and never saw one around here.
I don't know how Dominoes Pizza can exist here with the competition.
Pizza Hut is a guilty pleasure, although fake as hell.

Recent in central and north Jersey; but Jersey Mikes has been around south jersey for decades, the first one is in Point Pleasant.

Probably because Dominos' pies are so cheap and operating costs are much lower than an actual pizza place, especially since they no longer prepare the dough in-house, it's all delivered now like Dunkin Donuts. Same with Pizza Hut, although I used to work in one back when we made the dough, never did get the smell of fermented yeast and cooking oil in my work clothes LOL

Don't go to the chains too often, like the hole-in-the-wall one offs. While in Jersey ate a lot at a great deli called II Brothers in Flemington. Authentic as hell!

Sad thing is, chains are taking over up here now.
For some reason folks in the South tend not to patronize the small places, where up here, we non-millennials cherish them.
But kids these days... They prefer chains.

Have you tried Great American Hero on Lemmon Ave. in Dallas? It's pretty good. I don't know if it's up to Jersey standards but I liked going there for lunch before I retired.

I couldn’t find a good photo.
I would get a half loaf Italian, provolone cheese, ham, capricola, proscutto with lettuce, tomato, roasted peppers or sweet peppers with vinegar and oil.

Yeah, and the lockdown responses to covid don’t help the little guys. Your local and locally-owned restaurant is where the best food is. And right now, it’s where at least some of your money should go.
