Target audience: laboratory professionals and users of IVDs.

Purpose of this notice: clarify information previously provided by WHO. This notice supersedes WHO Information Notice for In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Device (IVD) Users 2020/05 version 1, issued 14 December 2020.

Description of the problem: WHO requests users to follow the instructions for use (IFU) when interpreting results for specimens tested using PCR methodology.

Users of IVDs must read and follow the IFU carefully to determine if manual adjustment of the PCR positivity threshold is recommended by the manufacturer.

WHO guidance Diagnostic testing for SARS-CoV-2 states that careful interpretation of weak positive results is needed (1). The cycle threshold (Ct) needed to detect virus is inversely proportional to the patient’s viral load. Where test results do not correspond with the clinical presentation, a new specimen should be taken and retested using the same or different NAT technology.

WHO reminds IVD users that disease prevalence alters the predictive value of test results; as disease prevalence decreases, the risk of false positive increases (2). This means that the probability that a person who has a positive result (SARS-CoV-2 detected) is truly infected with SARS-CoV-2 decreases as prevalence decreases, irrespective of the claimed specificity.

Most PCR assays are indicated as an aid for diagnosis, therefore, health care providers must consider any result in combination with timing of sampling, specimen type, assay specifics, clinical observations, patient history, confirmed status of any contacts, and epidemiological information.

Actions to be taken by IVD users:

Please read carefully the IFU in its entirety.
Contact your local representative if there is any aspect of the IFU that is unclear to you.
Check the IFU for each incoming consignment to detect any changes to the IFU.
Provide the Ct value in the report to the requesting health care provider.

If you read what WHO released on Jan 20, 2021, as Biden was becoming president, it says having a single positive Covid test does not mean you have Covid, need to have another confirming test.

That means if you were told you had one test, and you had NO symptoms, but the test was positive, now that means you do not have Covid.

This means no asymptomatic transmission as that no longer exists.

This also means wearing masks is a bunch of BS.

This also means that the Covid numbers are wildly inflated.

Wife went to see our Doctor yesterday and asked him what he though about the WHO new guidelines.

She was told:

"I am not allowed to comment about that at this time."

I think that right there is very alarming and speaks VOLUMES about all the bullshit we have been fed over the last ten months.

Are you sure? I just read Gates' interview on the news yesterday. He talked about vaccinations and the difficult times we live in. A pandemic was mentioned between the lines and two years. Two years! I am more and more convinced that Covid is pure politics.

I constantly wonder why commons sense of mask proponents have yet to look to what virologists wear. They are in positive displacement hoods, with supplied filtered air, or at a minimum TIGHT fit respirators with extremely small pore cartridges rated as such.
Anything loose fit does not work.

If you feel I or others should "wear the damn mask", stay home and live a long sheltered miserable life of fear. Bacteria and Viruses are always all around us and are a constant in life that I won't live in fear of.

Your entitled to your opinion, as we all are. This is how a lot of people felt right up to the time they contracted the covid 19 and gave it to there whole family in which several of them died. Now if it was just you that contracted it, and had to live or die is one thing, but sacrificing others for your stupidity is another.
