Levothyroxine / Synthroid
My Doctor put me on this a couple months ago. After a 60 days, my BP and glucose seemed to drop. triglycerides really went down. Recently bought a new suit and the 34" trousers are too tight, I measured my 34" waist at 37". Same diet, exercise and supplements. Anyone having a problem with their Thyroid meds? thanks

You should probably tell your Doctor who should then draw all new labs especially if you’re claiming you’re not doing anything different.
They may then need to tweak your dose.
This is not official medical advice.
Your mileage may vary.

thats normal. If you have hypothyroid, your metabolism is super slow, so you will have weight gain, fatigue, increase BP, increase TG.
Basically, your thyroid is the autonomous command center of the body. By increasing your thyroid levels (t3/t4), you are bringing your metabolism back to normal. As long as you are within range, you will be fine.
Only thing i'd watch out for, is if you are super aggressive, or cant sleep then thyroid is too high.
ask me how I know..PharmD here.

My only problem is my gut is up to 3" bigger. Can't wear some of my clothes now. flannels will not fit. Sport coats can only cover so much. Hope my doctor is working on this.

weight gain isn't the only factor to consider. However, with that said, if your thyroid isnt within range within 90 days, they might have to increase your dose. If they were to increase your dose, your weight (at best) will stabilize, and might even start losing weight. If you just gained 3 inches to your belly and no actual weight gain, it might be something else not entirely related to your thyroid. Usually, that kind of gain is due to water retention, or some kind of electrolyte imbalance. a full metabolic lab test will answer that.
Problem with thyroid, is that the thyroid itself doesn't absorb alot of thyroid hormone, so that is why they will have you go back again in 90 days to do labs to see where you are. Also same reason as to why you have to take that medication on a empty stomach. So moral of the story, give it some time at least 90 days, the meds might not have kicked in fully yet.
getting your thyroid back within range is worth it. Medications are cheap, and its relatively easy to manage. Just remember if you are not "feeling yourself..(tired, fatigue or irritable or can't sleep) or if you gain or lose weight to fast, or nails or brittle or skin is dry, or hair is dry, or you constipated or having diarrhea..its your thyroid. Basically, if you aint yourself...go get your thyroid checked out.

I am not gaining weight, stuck at 170. 3" added to my stomach without any weight added is spooky. Doctor wants to hold off to June appointment/Lab , since my last Lab was the best ever. I admit, syntroid helps all the other numbers, I just can't deal with this. thanks

3" added to stomach has nothing to do with thyroid low or high if your weight is the same.
Ask your doctor to check for other diseases. Liver. Kidney. Heart. etc..
Do you have any other medical issue? What other meds are you on?

Mid 60's now, and I had to switch BP med's (ace inhibitors side effects got worse). Telmisartan (ARB) for the last year or so. I have been reading about adding a T3 , not sure if that will cancel out the weight gain (that I don't have).

Just make sure your doctor doing other labs, not just thyroid.

After stopping this med 7 Feb, I have decided to go back on. No changes and weight is the same. Still can't wear most of my trousers. Almost ready to add braces to my trousers. Doctor wants me to wait till my next Lab. we'll see.

you shouldn't stop levothyroxine if you are hypothyroid. You will gain wait since your body's metabolism will slow down, and make it harder to diagnose as to why you are retaining water or fluid is accumulating in your 3rd space.
Since it looks like you are on blood pressure meds too, you should also talk to your cardiologist. I don't think your increase gut is a thyroid problem anymore.
