They just recently announced no more quarantine for domestic travelers - other questions you had?

I have seen this starts on 02April, but have also read that it was for individuals that got the "vaccine". Prior to that, neg covid test 3 days prior, and another 4days after to get out of self incarceration. Or 10 days of self incarceration. How does one travel to NY, Long Island specifically on little to no notice? Driving; read that Jersey highways are still " essential travel" only. Police checkpoints at every airport, train station and bridge, all sounds very Orwellian. Down here the testing is done "if you have symptoms", can one even get a test in NY just to get out of lockdown in 4days? I wouldn't even think of going back to NY, if it wasn't necessary, but it feels almost impossible to do. Just looking for others experience with it.

Not true. I've been crossing into PA and NY for from NJ for months and no checkpoints at the bridges and tolls.

Ok,
I would be concerned about the crime if you are coming in from Newark. Do not get off the expressways highway roads in or around Manhattan or Newark. Do not bring any pew pews. Do not bring or carry anything that could be interpreted and a device of aggression. If you are going to practice batting at a batting cage and you bring your baseball bat don't for get your baseball glove.
Get ready for a bunch of anxiety debilitated people and their associated weird behavior.
Bring lots of money.
Bring more money.
Stuff is very expensive in Nj and NYC/LI

I was there a few weeks ago. Lots of people still think the plague is everywhere. Can't find eats or drinks.
Cuomo wants to get the sexual harassment news off of him so now he's opening up the state. They should have complained 6 months ago!

He had to wait for the federal tax payers to bail him out. Now that the money is on the way, he can stop holding the citizens hostage. I wouldn't even consider going there if both parents where not in the ICU.

Sorry to hear that. Where are you traveling from? NYC is a different beast that the rest of the state. Im in western NY and theres no monitoring of cars or out of state individuals.
Previously there were some check points in NYC. Air travel is more of a concern than car travel in terms of being monitored. TRavels are allowed from contiguous states

tons of places to get rapid tested here in Manhattan/Brooklyn; CityMD will the first recommendation you find online but the city/state provides free testing and at least a few that i've been to in Brooklyn are outdoors and relatively painless with more people getting vaccinated meaning less lines/wait times for testing.
try this list:
COVID-19 Testing Sites | NYC Health + Hospitals
good luck, let me know of more questions if you've got them.

I second that. I've been criss crossing the PA/NJ/NY border for months (since Sept 20) and I haven't seen anything of the sort. I practically live on I-95 and the Garden State Parkway. The self quarantine is on the honor system. As far as airports are concerned, I had a niece come from South America and wasn't stopped. This isn't Australia where you GET quarantined for 14 days when you arrive via air (no cruises are active as far as I know).
Advice? Wear a double mask (I have, and still am since being vaccinated), stay away from people and crowds and yes, bring money. Practice common sense and you'll be fine.

Thanks for the advice. It's going to be hard enough for me to wear one face diaper, forget about two. Managed to get the Rona while in el Paso that had mandatory masks late Nov. Went the whole pandemic with no issues, forced to wear a mask for a few weeks and boom, 103 deg fever for Christmas.

I drove. I took a COVID test before I left my home state and if you test negative again on the 4th day of your stay that's it.
