Hummer, Not so tough

I knew GM cut bunch of corners when civilian HUMVEEs were made by automotive giant, here is the proof:

I loved seeing the wrangler climbing past the h1 initially...however I am not sure how much of that video was driver limitation. I mean I have seen some hummers (H1's) do some really cool stuff, but its a good case of, talent vs treasure. Thanks for the link.

For some years, H1 did not come with lockers...either open axles or only ATRAC system. The problem was that the H1 is so darn heavy that ATRAC really did not cut it. The lockers were aftermarket i think. The later years, lockers became optional and was fitted on most H1 that came to dealers.

What was the deal with the guy at the end tipping over his Hummer? It looked like there were passengers in there that could have been pretty banged up. But he just high-five's his buddy and walks away?

WTF is wrong with people?

Definitely driver issue... The tires on the H1 were fully inflated. The tires on the Jeeps were deflated. The H1 has an onboard tire inflation/deflation system which worked awesome (provided you didn't tear an air line - civilian models had rubber air lines, military had braided steel). H1 was also much wider, which caused a lot of issues on narrow trails (both Jeeps were much narrower and had an easier time avoiding the ruts).

As far as the tipping thing... I think it was some vain attempt to show how tough these guys were versus the American Hummer, what they didn't show was that you could tip that thing back over and it would still run well.

Personally, I think they are too big for my tastes.

The first H2 breaking would happen to any SUV if a wheel gets in the air and you floor it,that was just stupidity of the driver.
Most of that was just stupidity and not a reflection the vehicle.

Plus the ATRAC system was a pain in the ass....you had to power brake to get in to engage, and then keep power braking to keep in engaged.....from the looks of the video this particular individual didn't know how to do that....

Plus that thing weighs 8600 lbs.....the XJ and YJ probably don't weight that combined....

That H1 in the video looks pretty old...which means that it probably was open diff front and rear.

I like this video. H2's look best when they are prepped for the scrap yard by the colossal pricks that buy them. A Yukon with a pussified version of a real truck's body.

Shame to see a few H1's wrecked in there though. Those things were tough as hell, even if not the best at rock climbing....

I don't understand why everyone here knocks Hummers. With some of the issues Toyota's had on the Tacoma , Tundra , 4R , Fj , ect.... I really don't see a big deal ( although fun to watch the vid's ).

I myself like the H3's , not the H2 are to much of a pig , but they are more than just a different body on a Tahoe or Colorado. Don't think I would ever purchase one but I've seen ton's of vids of Toyota's breaking , Nissan's , and everything else under the sun.

Although I really like my 4R and other Toyota's like the one's mentioned above , I don't they were created by God.
