As off topic as it gets...

A 2007 Honda Accord with the 3.0L V6 engine might be my new responsibility soon. Not getting rid of my 4Runner, just acquiring another whip. It's a 2-owner vehicle and has been with my family the majority of it's lifetime. It's been well maintained and never abused. It's an automatic, 4-door with 132,289 miles (as of 8/24/23) that's overall mechanically sound.

It's having some work done before being passed on to me, to include having the radiator and one of the tensioners replaced. After that, it should be ready for daily driving.

My idea in my head is to create a laundry list of items that I'd like to complete. This, of course, will give me a new hobby but will be costly. Although, I think that has paid off with my 4Runner seeing as it's currently at 330K miles and I daily drive the thing still. I must be doing something right.

So, for anyone out there who's a Honda fanatic, fanboi or knowledgeable owner, please let me know some important things on this particular model that I should be taking care of or things I should be looking out for. I wanna learn the ins and outs of this thing like I have with my 4Runner.

I'll create a little to-do list of things I personally want to complete upon receiving it. In no particular order:

- Oil change, going to be using full synthetic, possibly a high mileage one but not 100% sure. Will have to go over maintenance records and visually inspect the engine bay to make my decision
- All other fluid changes, especially brake fluid flush and ATF (Done)
- Spark plugs/wires (Need to do still)
- Windshield wipers
- Air filter replacement (Done)
- Convert interior lighting to LEDs (Done)
- New headlights just to freshen things up. Sylvania Silverstar Ultras
- Window tint is a must I think, not a priority but I do want to have nice tint on this thing. Never had it on the 4Runner
- o2 sensors (All good)
- PCV valve/hose
- Address any CELs that it might have, although there may not be any (P0443, P0497, *purge valve*)
- Take care of any worn out suspension items (All good)
- Inspect hoses for cracks
- Blackstone oil analysis
- Fuel filter
- Bug deflector (AVS p/n 20317)
- WeatherTech floor mats
- Strong Arm 4157 Hood Lift Supports (Done)

There has to be a whole bunch more that I can do to this thing. These are just some of the few that immediately popped into my head. Let me hear your thoughts!

9/8/23 - Lower control arms replaced, oil change, SuperTech Full Synthetic 5W-20, 15400-PLM-A02 filter, 132,309 miles
11/4/23 - I took possession of the Accord
11/7/23 - Strongarm 4157 hood struts
11/7/23 - STP cabin air filter replaced, 132,736 miles
11/14/23 - Coolant overflow reservoir cap replacement, 132,860 miles
2/3/24 - Alternator replaced with Denso p/n 210-0606, 134,497 miles
3/30/24 - Oil change, SuperTech Full Synthetic 5W-20, 15400-RTA-003 filter (Japan), 136,012 miles
3/30/24 - Transmission fluid flush (3x), Honda genuine ATF, 136,012 miles
3/30/24 - Brake fluid bleed, Valvoline Synthetic DOT 3/4 fluid, 136,012 miles

Not sure if this is going to become my build thread for the Accord, this certainly isn't the right place for it... nevertheless, over the weekend I got some oil (SuperTech 5W-20 Full Synthetic) and an OEM Honda oil filter for it. New lower control arms are on order for it as well. Hoping to have this thing by the end of the month, only time will tell. Getting excited for it!

Little update:

The radiator was replaced and Honda blue coolant was added. I suppose this stuff is like the equivalent to Toyota Red, so it's "the good stuff." New lower control arms, new lower ball joints and an oil change are in line this week. After this is all done, the Accord should be all mine.

Evidently it needs a new headliner, so that might be a task I try to take on myself but we'll see. I'm excited for this car nevertheless and plan to start taking care of it just like I have with my 4Runner.

Please go ahead and make this your build thread, numerous others have, I, like many, enjoy it. Anyway, my DD is a 2007 Civic Sedan with 360,000 miles. Still running like a champ, but there are small (not broken) issues. The headliner on mine is sagging in the back. Plenty of DIY videos out there and most of them look very good. Anyway, I noticed you didn't mention the transmission. Do a drain/fill. If it is shifting ok, go ahead and do it. I've been doing this since day one. Every 30K miles (and again the next oil change) even though Honda says to do it 60K. Oil (ATF) is cheap and knowing Honda, I'm sure its very easy to do in your V6 Accord. Stay with Honda ATF, they seem to be finnicky if you put something else in it. I don't know what intervals Honda recommends for your ride, but it's never a bad idea to change (drain/fill) the ATF. Thank you for the supportive words, I appreciate that. I'm not entirely sure what the future holds for the Accord, but I plan to give it the same treatment that I've given my 4Runner since owning it for the past almost 11 years.

360K, huh? That's impressive. I'm at 331K on the 4Runner as we speak. The Accord hasn't even seen 150K yet.

A drain and fill for the transmission is definitely in order for it, no doubt. Thanks for the heads up on it being picky about ATF. Wasn't quite sure about that since I've never officially owned one before.

I'll be sure to continue posting updates as they come in. Not sure if anyone will actually care to read this thread or not, but I think I do it more so for myself and to have a clear visual record of things. I like the organization.

I have the same gen, currently trying to decide how much I want to invest in it. Pretty much same story as yours history wise and always in the family. I would need to spend a solid $1,000 on it to get it where I want it as well as a few weeks of wrenching which is the bigger issue for me.

The one thing I'll add for you though is to install a fully integrated Android head unit with integrated controls. Seriously updates the general vibe of it!

Once I get it and started daily driving it we’ll see how it goes. I just recently switched back to Apple from Android so I have zero interest in anything Android related, lol. But good to know.

Just some little updates to bring this thread up to speed. The headliner on the Accord is currently being replaced since the original began to sag, so there's that. Evidently the trunk lid wasn't opening, not really sure what's up with that but that apparently has been fixed as well. Something to do with the latch mechanism on the inside of the car.

Not sure if previously mentioned, but an oil change has been done with SuperTech full synthetic 5W-20 and a Honda OEM oil filter. Lower ball joints and lower control arms have been replaced as well (Definitely not OEM parts, sadly)

Nothing else seems to be pending at this point in time so now it's just time for me to get the keys and drive it. Taking a little longer than anticipated but that is okay! Patience is key.

The Accord has arrived! Man does this thing drive & ride smooth compared to the 4Runner. It’s clean inside and out and is really, really nice. I have some things lined up for it this week, so further updates to come then.

First things first, I’ve gotta have an iOttie phone mount. I’ve had one in the 4Runner for about a year now and I couldn’t drive without it. It makes GPS operation and phone calls a breeze without having to take your hands off the steering wheel. Must have. And they’re super affordable, too.

Looks great, congratulations on paying less for fuel! Rode around in one in college since a friend had one (maybe an 07?) - second engine but it was up there around Cookie's mileage if I recall correctly.
