Sprint
So I have an Air Card (wireless internet) for my laptop through sprint. It broke, and they refuse to replace it. Long story short, it's about $260 to replace the POS card, or $200 to cancel my contract. I was going to just cancel it when it got close to my bill payment, however....
I have read a lot about people being able to get out of their contracts without the early termination fees due to Sprint adding new fees for 08, giving people a loop hole.(it's a change that was not in the contract that they signed). Today I got my december/january bill, and what do I spy with my little eye? A .43 cent increase in my bill. HOW DARE THEM!!!
Anyways, i'm going to try to use this to get out of my contract like so many others have been able to do. Does anyone have any tips that I should abide by when I talk with them to get better success? They are closed tomorrow (sunday) so I have until monday to think it over. I'm sure I have a good hour or so of arguing with poorly speaking, under-paid, and under-educated Sprint Reps in store for me, since they have the worst customer service I have ever encountered. Any help would be appreciated. THANKS!

Be nice to them and know that most of the customer service reps are not out to get you. They have to deal with this kind of stuff all the time so you might get lucky with one of the nice ones. Which carrier are you thinking to go with next? I don't know about you guys, but att has horrible customer service as well.

I would suggest Verizon, I have had them almost 3 years and never had an issue. We have 4 lines with the unlimited text and I have the data package for my Motorola Q.
I have been through the ATT/Cingular gamet.... just my 2cents

I already have AT&T for my cell phone (an iPhone) and have never had any problems with them. I don't know which company I will go with for my wireless internet. Either AT&T or Verizon though.

Verizon has amazing wireless internet. At one of my dad's offices, Verizon (the only company he insists on using for cell phone, TV, internet, land line) does not yet run Fios to his area, so he insists on using wireless Verizon until Fios is available to install, instead of getting companies like Time Warner or COX. I have been there a couple times and it works amazingly

Should've got ESRP if not TEP.
You could pay the $55 and have Sprint cover it. They no longer honor the manufacturer's warranty through the stores since the merger with garbage @$$ Nextel.

yea i knew of that loophole, i used to sell/sign up people for cell phones from all companies...i know a lot of loopholes for charges and fees, and advantages of companies over others, etc...
Listen to those who said, just be REALLY nice to the people you talk to, and once you get a manager, put your foot down and be strong, but be courteous...
you will be ok...i know another trick too for getting out of your cancellation fee, ive never tried this one, but i hear it works...
tell sprint that your moving to another state, and b4 you talk to them, go to their website and look at their coverage map...find a place where they have no coverage and say youre moving there...and that you would LOVE to keep their service, but CANT...they wont charge u
good luck man!

I have AT&T also for my iPhone; however, from what I have heard is that Verizon's EVDO is faster than 3G and it is more widespread. I don't have either service for my laptop just use my iPhone if I need to look something up quickly.

The iphone isn't on 3G yet. I think it's on the slower EDGE 2G network right now.
Also EVDO is part of the 3G (Mobile Communications Standard Family), so it wouldn't make sense to say it's faster than itself (although ATT thought they would be smart and call their service 3G). Jwa is right though, for a while verizon has had better coverage for this stuff.
josh what kind of laptop do you have?

I know the iPhone isn't on 3G its on EDGE. I was just saying I don't have a 3G card for my laptop, but I just use EDGE on my iPhone whenever I need to look something up.

No Problem man, yes the phone was expensive, but it was worth it. But I love just about everything Apple does also I might be wrong on this but doesn't EVDO still have better coverage than 3G?

I agree, you pay alot but it's sure to get looks everytime you take it out of your pocket. Apple has a great group designers.
EVDO i don't know. Before i had heard they did, but havent heard much more about this "internet anywhere" stuff for a while.

Just a Gateway that I bought around September, with Windows Vista. That new MacBook Air that is coming out soon is VERY tempting. But we'll see if I have $1800 to throw out after my lift gets here and I put new tires on, and everything else I need for my truck. I might have to settle for a regular MacBook.
Either way, a Mac would be a good addition to my iPhone.
