Ebay Bid Sniping Services

Have any of you on the forum used Ebay bid Sniping services. I am trying it for the first time, but how I understand this to work is the idea is It's a program where you can enter your maximum bid and at the last few seconds your bid is submitted on your behalf to ebay using your Ebay ID and password and you win the auction providing someone does not bid higher than your maximum bid.

Supposedly this keeps bidding prices lower as you are not entering your maximum bid within the Ebay sytem but rather the sniping service.

Essentially the strategy would be to submit an opening bid and then if someone outbids you, let them. Don't sign into ebay to submit a higher bid to outbid them back as this drives up the current bid and a lot of times things sell on Ebay more than they are worth due to the bidding war mentality. Just decide on your maximum bid and submit that to the sniper service and at the last second of the auction your bid will be submitted.

I went to bidnappers.com to try the service

Doesn't Ebay have policies against these types of programs?

Snipe services have been around for a few years. I have used Auction Sniper back when it was free and it worked as advertised.

auctionsniper.com
ezsniper.com
bidnapper.com
auctionstealer.com
justasnipe.com
snipeswipe.com
bidburglar.com

They are great if you can't be around for the last few minutes of an auction. However, if you can be there it is pretty simple to post your own max bid in the last few seconds by timining it right.

If I am around at the end of an auction that I am bidding in, I will open 2 windows showing that auction. One window I will use for bidding and the other I constantly refresh to watch other bidders activity. Its easy to time a final bid at the last second this way.

None that I'm aware of. Why would it - the item still sells at the market price as you enter the maximum amount you are willing to pay into the sniping service. The ebay has a proxy bid; sniping is the same idea, but it takes the timing of the bid submission away from you.

Been using the sniping service for a while, it worked great for me.
