Conceal Handgun...What do you carry?

Hey all,

I just currently waiting for my conceal handgun license. The course was torture...10 hours! The instructor was pretty nice and made things a bit interesting.

Anyway, i have a Glock 26 (Baby Glock 9mm). It is a bit too fat (wide) for me to carry comfortably inside my belt. So, i went and bought a Kahr PM9 with blackened DLC finish. It is 9mm, but is also really small and thin with a 3" barrel. The gun is surprisingly accurate...it kicks more than my Glock 26 (expected), but not by much and easily controlled. The trigger pull is longer but smooth (DAO). The quality is outstanding. The slide is stainless steel...with the black Tungsten DLC finish (formerly known as Black Diamond), the slide is even stronger and more durable than two-tone version. The rest of the gun is polymer which explain why the PM9 weighs around 15 oz! The gun is made to shoot +P ammunition, but not +P+.

Here it is:

My gun was manufactured in 3/24/08 and i got it in 5/23/08...very nice...i am probably the first customer to even touch it.

What do you guys carry as your conceal weapon?? (Of course, by law, this only applies to those with CHL license.)

BTW, i still have my Glock 26...super reliable...will be my home gun.

Colt Combat Commander .45

Kahr's are really nice. Been thinking about getting a PM40. Not much bigger/heavier than the PM9.

Watch out for the kick...40 caliber + small light gun = monster recoil!

Where do you guys carry them to? I only carry mine when I leave town for hunting/fishing/camping/etc.

No need to carry it around the city. Many people don't realize that even though they teach it in class, once the gun comes out, someone is supposed to die. Can't just pull it out to scare someone or say "leave me alone." Only to be pulled out in dire circumstances, and I hope all of us never face that. Plus you all know you feel different when you carry a gun, like empowerment. Don't need millions of people running around feeling like that, IMO.

That's my 0.02 on this issue. Unless you live in the 'hood where you are rightfully scared, leave the gun at home during a regular day.

It will be with me whenever i go out with my family...otherwise, it will be either at home (when i am home) or in my car.

BTW, let's not get into a gun debate as to the rights and wrongs of guns in this thread. I am just making a thread to ask what you guys carry...nothing more, nothing less.

I agree with BlueWave, I don't feel any need to carry a weapon on a daily basis. Always have it when I go camping. Never had to pull it out, but did once have to let it show to get some jerks to leave me and my wife alone. They left in a hurry and then so did we, in the opposite direction.

Ok, so what do you carry?? This is about what you carry, not about when you carry.

S&W 686 Revolver in .357Mag

hence my handle 'Magnumfan'

no controls, no safety, no buttons etc to mess with and it can remain loaded for years wtih no stress on springs - because if you have a loaded auto sitting for years and suddenly need it and it lets you down...

and I can consistantly hit an object the size of a man, out to 300 yards with it

Couple of years ago, I blew a coyote almost in half with it - he was hanging around my camp and here in CA the DFG recomends hunters to kill them (they are everywhere)

And since I am a qualified firearms saftey instructor with the CA DFG, my advise to everyone is practice, practice, practice

I never carry concealed
