This is a fun site with amazingly accurate forecasts, especially within 5 days of 'an event'.

Of course the Republicans will think McCain will win and Obama supporters think he'll win but I think this will be a truly close race but the interesting fun will begin with the public debates in a couple of weeks.
I really don't know who has the clear edge right now but I think America needs a break from the Republican regime this millenium and will vote Obama.
I really want to see McCain at least give some serious talk about health care reform to make me even feel a little good about him and I want reaasurance we will be out of Iraq before either guy who wins finishes his initial term.

Yes, it seems close now, but I don't think it will be that close at election time. The question is who is it? How will Palin do in interviews, will Osoma bin Laden come out with another tape, will the war change, what about another attack on the US? I would say the events that come up will decide the outcome.

Thank is a good one. If you were serious, then let me tell you, it is basically insurance. They won't cover this or that, it is getting so bad, that I feel they are just paying 5% of the bill. And what the heck, you go to a approved doctor and then they say his / her bill is above the norm and they will only pay 1/2 of it, or should I say 80% of half of it, IF you have meet your deductable.
You read about people going to the doctors and have a problem then have this huge bill and even with insurance they go broke. Also, you hear about people that can't get insurance because of pre-exisiting conditions.
Right now, I am having problem with my insurance, they dropped all these compaines for blood work and all of my doctors use those compaines. I am going to go to the doctors and ask if I could send it to another lab.
I would say Health Care is one of our biggest problems.

(HealthDay News) -- The vast majority of Americans are dissatisfied with the U.S. health care system, and 82 percent think it needs to be overhauled, a new survey found. "There is a broad view by the public that our health care system needs a full overhaul, either to be totally rebuilt or reformed," said Cathy Schoen, senior vice president for research and evaluation at The Commonwealth Fund, which commissioned the survey.

I think most want REFORM, not universal health care.

Have you check the alternative?? Seriously, if you guys like universal healthcare, then you guys need to read REAL experiences by those citizens under that healthcare. It ain't pretty.
As for insurance coverage, it depends on what plan you get or received from your company. HMO vs. PPO. Medicare vs. Medicaid. So, yeah, if you want better coverage, then you have to pay for it.
Remember, although you have to pay a deductible, you still get timely evaluation and proper medical care. In the universal healthcare, you won't get this type of care. For example, if a person has a heart problem (PSVT = heart rhythm problem for instance), then you will have to wait in line till you get your appointment, which could take many months. REMEMBER, in universal healthcare, EVERYONE will be showing up to their doctor's office with a running nose, a broken fingernail, etc.. And with limited payments, doctors/hospitals/etc. will not have much incentive to do more than what he/she is paid per month. Basically, every month, a doctor gets paid $100 if he sees one or 10 million patients. So, why work hard?? So, why go the extra mile? Ain't worth it. Doctors/hospitals will be more protected from lawsuits from negligence...guess what that means?? Don't give a shit attitude by a doctor = ??? (Good luck.)
Once you've made it to your doctor's office, you will be lucky to get medications. And if those medications fail, then you will wait many months to even get an appointment for specialty care. And since PSVT is not deadly in the strictest sense, you can say goodbye to any procedure anytime soon.
Or how about a perfectly healthy 70 year old man with failing kidneys?? Hmmm, do you think universal healthcare will allow dialysis on this patient?? With out system now, EVERYONE who needs dialysis, gets it. With universal/social healthcare, you can dig that hole in your backyard for that 70 year man because he is NOT going to get dialysis.
A nurse in my hospital told me once that her father in Canada had to wait at least 8-9 months for a colonoscopy because he was having rectal bleeding. During that time, he had to take a bunch of iron pills. Last i heard, she was planning on getting him to the USA to get the procedure done. Is this what we want??
These are examples, maybe extreme, but these occur everyday. Yeah, you have to pay for medical services. And despite many misconceptions by the public, EVERYONE IN THIS COUNTRY CAN GET PROPER MEDICAL CARE with or withOUT insurance.
Oh yeah, and i am not even talking about the financial burden on our national deficit with universal healthcare! Nor how much our taxes will go up to fund this system. I will let someone with more financial knowledge to chime in.

I agree universal health care does not seem to be a solution. I have heard personally from others living in countries with universal health care and the problems they report are often worse. Our system needs improvement no doubt, maybe a complete reform like someone else mentioned, but the universal system would just take us from bad to worse.

I am still waiting for any politician (in either party) to tell me where in the US Constitution it designates health care, retirement or education as federal responsibilities.
The "enumerated powers" are listed in Article I, Section 8 and none of those things are mentioned there. If you believe the Bill of Rights as it (they) read, Amendment X would basically prohibit Uncle Sham from being so involved in everyone's lives.
Funny how so many of our elected & appointed officials can "make up" things that are not in the Constitution, while ignoring other things that are written within it in plain English.
This nonsense going on nowadays makes me just want to vote "Constitution Party" or possibly pull the lever for the Libertarians -- because the Reboobligans and the Dummycraps obviously don't get it.

It would be nice if everybody could have healthcare, but where would you get the money from? If you raise income tax, people will have less incentive to work because it will basically be costing them money to work. You can't just spend money that you don't have and raise the debt. I am 100% against socialized medicine. Even though everybody has access to a healthcare system like Canada's, you are not getting the same standard of care. Our healthcare system has its flaws, but they are nothing compared to other countries. In addition, the problem with the healthcare system are caused by your pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, and hospitals (not the doctors). How much does a doctor really get paid (by insurance and copay combined) for your typical visit? A doctor can bill for as much as they want, but the insurance companies determine the ultimate price. Also, if somebody without insurance enters the hospital with chest pain, they will get the proper care. A hospital cannot turn away a patient for "lack of funds." There are also options like emergency medicaid and other aid for these people.

[COLOR=firebrick] I believe McCain to be a man of high integrity for a politician, an oxymoron, I know.
Had he talked about standing "behind me" rather than "next to me" as I pursue my American dream I might be more excited. (No gay jokes you clowns! ) I know a politicians definition of getting out of my way means to slow down the rate of encroachment. It's so bad often I wonder if they can read? It

I would like to see Obama do this too , but I guess you would need some experience/knowledge to do that.
People expect the gov't do everything for them like it's owed to them and not a privledge.
The race will be fun to watch.

There's thousands of americans with no health care and that includes children;we need reform so poor people can afford some semblance of it and we need better coverage with most insurance companies and make it affordable for the average middle class (and I don't mean just under the $5 million income middle class) and lower classes that struggle with it.
And not 20 seconds after McCain was discussing the importance of literacy in this country this sign was spotted and I caught it live and laughed my butt off.
