What do you think about the new president?

Good? Bad? Issues?

Well, he was taking the office and making a lot of changes quickly. Some I agree with, some I don't. I am looking at him trying to spend all that money, I can't help but think, "I hope we know what we are doing".

Still way too early to tell since he's only been in for a little over a week.
Give the man some time but I do feel already he's the right choice over the McCain/Palin ticket and it's the first time I've seen this country really rally behind a president in a long time and as a country we seem positive instead of such negativity.

Learn to love him and the Dems.

The stimulus plan, and his other policies will crush the opposition forever. We were heading for European style socialism but it surprised me how fast we got there.

A majority of voters will become focused on their two issues: "give me my ever increasing entitlement payment, and don't ever tax me."

he does have a great SUV:

I was watching him on CNN this morning. now that the campaign is over he appears relaxed warm and personable. I think he brings energy and positive ideas at a time when they are really necessary.

I think he is a good person, but I'm not a huge fan of him as a president.

I hate the way we are moving towards socialism and I'm not a big of of the deficit spending.

Those are strong predictions Atlanta. I sure hope they don't come true.

I have nothing against the guy and wish him the best of luck. We'll see what happens.

President Obama

He is indeed my President - even though I did not vote for him and I vehemently disagree with him on several major issues. The voters have spoken, he has been elected & inaugurated; thus I wish him the best of luck. I do hope that he can pull different factions together for the good of our nation (although I am very doubtful about him being able to do that).

I am one of those who respects the office he occupies enough to reserve judgment about his personality or where he stands on any particular topic. Reasonable people can disagree without being disagreeable, right?

That being said, I am still a patriotic American citizen and will "call him out" anytime he pushes for unconstitutional legislation, tries to hike my taxes or he comes for my guns. Unfortunately, I believe that he and his allies will probably try for all three before his term is over.

Don't let me down, President Obama; and prove to me that I was wrong (or am wrong) in my skepticism about you and what you have in store for our country.

I hope he succeeds in his goals to rectify the downturn which is now severe in our economy. I hope he smacks the sht out of those execs who took the bailout and gave themselves millions of dollars in bonuses. I'm thinking jail time..........let's make it truly the land of the free and home of the brave for .......every one.

100% as far as our President is concerned. As far as he is concerned I have great reservations about his priorities and beliefs as they are today. I am also somewhat optimistic. In addition to being a smooth talker I believe he's really smart. As he learns and grows into the job I hope he'll modify some of his positions to a more responsible place.

I think the events and headlines of the week are more about the Congress than the President (as is often the case in spite of what the 6 o'clock news tells us). The President sets a general tone and course. It's the Congress that 'engineers' the exact methodology and path. Congress is drunk, detached, clueless and Hell bent on self-preservation at any cost. They have no clue who they work for. They have no clue about recent history to include massive failures with experiments in socializm. It's both shameful and sinful.

That leads to the next thing: Does it matter and is it any different than any other time? Yes it matters because of the huge economic stake. This differs because more than ever before there's an arrogance and stupidity within both houses (on both sides). They truly suffer from a God complex and live in a bubble where that notion is fostered and supported. With thier Divine insight and power they are going to try to fix and save things they can't. Those efforts will actually make things worse for a long time...

That's my 2cents

One thing is certain, though. I am constantly thinking back fondly to the Reagan years.
:awais:

I watched a YouTube video of President Reagan's farewell address and could not help but compare the mood & attitude of our country in January of 1989 versus today. I did not have a pot to pi55 in back in those days, but I was much more optimistic about the future of our nation than I am today (even though I personally am better off).

I am not one who looks to Washington, DC for my individual prosperity and I know it is not the job of government to be our "national nanny" by any stretch.....but I am aware that many of our problems are brought about or exacerbated by government policy. The more government, particularly at the federal level, involves itself in our everyday affairs, the more expensive and intrusive it will become!

As Ronald Reagan once said, the worst thing you can hear is when you meet someone and they tell you: "I'm from the government and I am here to help you."

Boy, was he ever right!

Good luck, President Obama! Please remember that it is Congress that spends our money and it is the United States Constitution to which you swore an oath.....not the special interests who may have bankrolled your campaign.

.................................................. ..............................

"We are a people who have a government; not the other way around." -- Ronald Wilson Reagan

"Government is not a solution to our problems. Government is the problem." -- Ronald Wilson Reagan
