The top pro surfers have ascended on Puerto Rico for the first time ever in a world championship contest at the Rip Curl Pro Search. Its a cool contest because every year they go to a new place, and its relatively a secret until they get there.

The best part, besides the action(surfing,hot chicks), is the fact that Kelly Slater (a florida boy) is about to clinch his 10th world title with a decent result at the contest. Its the 9th out of 10 contests for the year, the next and final one is in Hawaii at Pipeline. The last two days were pumping, and they may or may not run the mens round 3 tommorow depending on conditions. If its not THAT good, they'll get the chicks out there.

I really enjoy watchin it live. You can watch previously ran heats under the video heading under heats on demand. PR is close to eastern standard time, so compared to some of the others its pretty easy to catch it.

Stephani Gilmore took it, though I think in years to come Carissa is gonna be really dominant. She just graduated highschool, hahaha.

died 11/2/10 enroute to from puerto rico enroute to kauai, while on a layover in texas.
Bummer for sure, none of the old champions have died yet, so to lose such a young and deeply talented one is strange to say the least. From what i've heard its dengue (sp) fever, but that is not concrete.

Either way.
Rest in peace, Andy Irons; one of the best surfers whoever lived and who hadn't even reached his potential yet.
