Anyone get any bogus Christmas presents?

Every year someone from my family or my girlfriends family will give me a really strange present for some reason. They think it's a good idea for a present, but they just pile up in the garage. Just wondering if anyone else gets any useless/unwanted items for Christmas.

This years winner is the mini popcorn maker like the ones at carnivals and movie theaters. I don't even really like popcorn. This was courtesy of my girlfriends dad, who last year gave me a sailing calendar, even though I don't sail.

Maybe he is trying to tell you that his daughter likes eating popcorn while sailing

hahaha a sailing calendar? that is random..
You'll have to get him something more random like a pair of crutches or a knit christmas sweater with lights on it. Or just get him a new shoe. Not a pair of shoes, just a shoe.

Yeah he is a strange guy and I was really confused by the calendar. My girlfriends brother also got my girlfriend a bottle of vodka, which is an ok present except she doesn't drink because she just had a baby. I guess weird gifts run in the family.

Seems like your family members are just buying what they themselves wanted instead of putting any thought into a gift for someone else lol

My mother in law gave us a pet hair couch roller although we have no pets. Last year I got a vinyl/plastic wallet, you know, the kind you get for a 5 yr old. The year before that I got a box of crappy cookies

My wife who works at Home Depot said all the dept heads including herself received $5 Starbucks giftcards from their store manager who pulls down 6 figures easily.

I've got a "crazy" uncle John...
A bit of background to understand him better....

He has a padlock on his 'fridge so no one can poision his food. He lives alone.
He puts file folder stickers on all the doors & windows in his house, with his signature on it. If the door or window has been opened, the sticker will be broken. That way he knows if someone has been in a room, or in the house without his knowledge. All the doors to all the rooms in the house are always closed & "sealed".
Last year he called us up.
"Have you been to the Taco Bell across from City Hall lately? There is a kid working there that looks just like Andy. Except it is a girl.
Are you sure you didn't have twins and one of them was stolen at the hospital? You need to go down there with Andy's birth certificate and make sure she is not yours. See if you can get a DNA sample just to make sure."
He was deadpan serious.

A couple of years ago for Christmas, I got a flare gun set. You know, the kind you have on a boat. I don't have a boat. Never did.

Yesterday, he came over for like 2 minutes to give gifts.
For my Wife & I, he gave a floating emergency strobe light. The kind used on, you guessed it, a boat ( or a plane in case of a crash ). We neither have a boat or plane. Never did.
For my Son & his girl friend, he gave a.... wait for it.....

a floating emergency strobe light.
They don't have a boat or plane either.

If it is the thought that counts, then I wonder what that thought was?

Yeah I would except he remarried and now has a 7 and 9 year old. He's screwed anyways, seeing that he is 60. Next year I will have to get him something really out there, but knowing him he will like it.

My buddy is 33 and his mom still gets him all kinds of ridiculous $5-10 toys that a 7 year old would like (maybe). For instance.. this year we have some new targets to take to the shooting range... he got a remote controlled (yes, with wire) t-rex, a die cast Russian tank, and a frog with a long gummy tongue that you can whip and stick-on things. I think his mom misses her little baby, LOL.

Ok, even better, get him an appointment with a Urologist and this wonderful information-filled brochure online:

Or if he is a cheap bas****, then get him the "home kit":

BTW, this has got to be one of the funniest thread i have read recently!
