I read an article that most homes older than 2 yrs are hard to sell in Vegas, because of all the new developments that pop up. A friend of mine bought a second house a few years ago before the bubble bursting.

Good point about housing Uneek. Houses are probably pretty cheap. I heard there are a ton of foreclosures out there.

Been there, done that, got the T-shirt!

Vegas has it's good and bad just like everywhere else but more "bad" than good in my opinion. Housing is very cheap there right now but don't buy anything unless you plan on being there for a while.

The job market there is still very uncertain, the Sahara just announced it is closing and there are still casinos that are unfinished, I know, I worked on them.

Living there won't make you a better driver, only an angry driver!

If law enforcement is where you want to be, there's plenty of work to go chasing after. I dated a cop when I first moved there and holy crap did he have some good stories!

If you like to camp, be prepared to drive 3-4 hrs to find a good place and even then you're still in the middle of the desert.

I seem to recall watching one of those real estate shows, and, it seemed like vegas had a pretty high foreclosure rate, lots of empty houses, and bank owned houses, etc.

Maybe you could move there shop around for the best area, and then find a house on the cheap.

good luck man.

Now is a great time to buy a house in Vegas. Just make sure that you plan on being there for about 5 years or so. It's going to take a while for the market to come back to where it was. Anyone that you talk to (that's lived there) will tell you that the first 6 months will make or break you. You spend the first 3 months exploring and partying like a rockstar and the next three dealing with reality and for most….missing their home, friends, and family. I've only been gone from Vegas for a year now and I've seen it in it's best and in it's worst….Good luck!

If your young, single, have a job (especially in law enforcement) then go for it. The lake is near by if your into water sports.

If I were to move to Vegas in this stage in my life I would probably end up broke, divorced, and tatooed. I do have a lot of fun when I visit though.

Living in Vegas not so bad

I currently live in Vegas. Vegas is not a great city and if you plan to raise children, look elsewhere. The city itself is not my style since I don't care to gamble. However, it is a fantastic base camp. What I mean by that is, you are centrally located to a lot of great outdoor destinations. Utah, the grand canyon, California (Love the sierras). Also, Mt. Charleston is about 30mins from where I live in Vegas. It's a great place to get away from the summer heat.

Also, quick note. Northwest las vegas is not the crime-ridden area, it's actually one of the nicest and newest parts of town (Centennial Hills, etc.). The Northeast is the bad part of town.

I recommend Henderson or Summerlin as the best areas to live in.

This thread is old. Did he end up moving out there? Personally if I had a choice, I would have went to Colorado myself. Vegas is too touristy.

Perfect solution! Just look under the roommate tab on California's Craigslist. You can always trust people you meet on the internet

did you hear about the craigslist guy that shot a 72 year old man at the apartments on ina and mona lisa?

if yes, stop reading... if no... continue.

the 72 yo man replied to an add about buying an ipad, and the guy (early 20's) came to his apartment, shot him, took the money and left. but the cops have had cell phone # and email, and the description. also they took the video from the circle k across the street and has video of him.... what an IDIOT! im pretty sure he is already caught but i cant confirm that.

hes 72... was it really needed to shoot him? you could have just pushed him, plus he probably would have given up the cash with just the gun drawn...

not saying you should rob anyone but people are getting dumber and dumber now days.
