That's great! I'm sure it's not easy, just like any habit. One day at a time!

Still smoke free. I can't smoke or I lose. If I really, really want one I make myself go exercise.
Luckily I get kind of grossed out when I see people smoking, especially when they are driving, which used to be one of my favorite smoke times.

Good job guys!! Keep it up. The short-term misery that you suffer now will pay off in years of quality of life down the road. Trust me, i make a lot of money out of people who are dumb enough to keep on smoking....

I've quit a couple of years ago. It wasn't easy, I should say. But it worth doing it. All the tastes and scents are different now and I don't have that terrible cough in the morning

Crazy things are going on here. I'm really into quit smoking, but still do these ugly thing with my body. Hey, ogden8, my congratulations to you! Some time ago I was smoking near my car, the weather was kind of windy and somehow the wind knocked the cigarette out of my hands. And guess where it decide to fall? Yep, right on my sit (the car was open)... Now, I'm a proud owner of car seat cushion pack. Try this things on, if it's not my imagination - sits now become a bit more comfortable. And nobody will see the what was happened, very useful thing, you know.

@ DanielLee5
This might be the oldest thread revival I've ever seen, or at least that I've seen in a long time haha!

On this medication you can continue to smoke, just over time you crave the nicotine less because the medication blocks the nicotine receptors.
Well now I am smoke free and glad to get away from those f'ing things.
The side effects I experienced was an occosional temper flare and some crazy dreams. As far as temper, it didn't make me madder than I usually did, I just got mad faster. Didn't happen often. As far as the dreams, I didn't mind those either, I usually don't remember my dreams, but it was awesome having the dreams to be honest.
It's covered by most insurance, but if it isn't, really who cares, you'll save thousands in buying cigarettes.

Good for you man!
My x GF tried Chantix and it really put her over the edge sanity wise. Short temper, crazy thoughts. In the end it didn't work for her. She was never the same.

I just went on the patch for 9 weeks . But that was my 3rd try at quitting . I guess 3rd times a charm
Not sure about where you are but here the Gov now pays for stop smoking aids like patches . There is also a lot of online help and groups out there to support you . I just lost 2 more friends to lung cancer this fall
Good luck .

I quit for 14 months when I was 25. Started again. Quit again when I was 32 for 26 months. I started again after the 26 month layoff; then quite again 2 days later. Decided I was done with it. 2 months later my dad was diagnosed with lung cancer. Not really sure what impact that had on my decision to stay away from it, but it's been a little over 35 years since I lit up.
No patches/drugs/therapy. Just the will to be rid of a dirty habit.
If I can do it, so can others.

Quit 6 months ago and couldn't be happier about it! It was very hard in the beginning but worth it. Read "Atomic Habits" if you want to hear some tips on battling bad habits

Havent bought a pack in a few months, but I still bum them off a coworker. It is definitely a hard habit to quit, but the gf hates the smell, and I refuse to smoke in my 'new' 4runner. Glad to hear that other put off this habit, and to hear that others are trying as well

Used Chantix twice to quit smoking the last three years or so. It never took more than a few months, and the last time I just wasn't getting over the cravings, mood swings, etc after 6 months and even taking Prozac and going to counseling.
So, I started vaping at the suggestion of my girlfriend. Quit smoking nearly a year ago. Now I'm just trying to slowly get off the vaping.
But no more stinking, no more high costs of cigarettes, no more ash burns in vehicles, increased blood flow to the nether regions... My girlfriend is much happier.
But vaping, yeah, not happy with the latest news about it. No way I can go back to cigarettes. The smell makes me sick, now.
