I just wanted to give white rock mountain a short review. My brother and I stayed there for 2 nights and we brought our 2 german shepherds. To start this campground is located in the Ozarks off of Forest gravel roads. There are two popular way to get there. The most common way is from shores lake. That route is currently under construction. The road is the smoother way up and it has fresh gravel but beware it is very slick and you need to go slow up it. The other route is from Mountainburg. Coming up this way the road is a rough gravel/dirt road. It is a much faster road to drive but cars and will struggle with this route.
When we got there we stayed at campsite 9. This campsite is the most private site at the campground. All of the other sites are right next to one another. At campsite 9 you get your own private loop. One of the downsides is that it does not have a tent pad like the other sites. The ground is very rocky so I would recommend to taking a tarp for under your tent. There are a lot of the walking stick bugs around the camp ground. They seem to be worst at night and while under trees.
I dont know about the other sites but campsite 9 had its own access trail to the rim trail that goes around the mountain. The views are great!
Here is a couple pictures from the South Overlook. It can be accessed from the rim trail or the Day use area.
Overall my experience there was positive. The staff was friendly the views were great, there is access to running water, and the campsite it in the middle of nowhere (not off of a major tourist route or highway.) If I had to rate them I would give 4.25/5. Hope this helps anyone who is looking at camping here.
