Oregon Sand Dunes General Info
I explored the dunes last week south of Reedsport/Winchester and down to North Bend, just north of Coos Bay.
Spinreel at the northern end, has a good ATV rental shop with a good staging area very close. We rented a Polaris and went in and out through the staging area. Sand was too deep and soft to take the T4 alone.
Near Hauser – Steve’s ATV rental and a KOA campground. Good dune access, very soft and deep.
North Bend, Boxcar Hill Campground and staging area with Steve’s ATV rental. Simple open camp area.

We went to Spinreel and had a good day on the dunes with a Polaris RZR.
Hauser would probably be better for T4s to go out together and you can get a quad in addition if wanted. The KOA is off road friendly for camping and dune access.
I did not air down and could not make it up a slight incline. Did not want to go out without another 4x along and did not want to air down to find I still needed help. Not sure how much help an ATV would be.
One guy stopped to tell me I should have aired down before getting stuck. I thanked him for his input, backed down to better ground and made unkind references to his ancestry.
