When I’m out 4-wheeling I’m usually carrying a 9mm Ruger Security-9 and extra clips. Sometimes I’ll add a 12-gauge Mossberg.

When I’m out hunting upland game I’m usually carrying the Mossberg and a Ruger 10/22 with several 25 round clips. Since I can hunt close to home, they are sitting between my right leg and the console, loaded but not chambered, safeties on. I’ll often have my Ruger Security-9 with me as well, just in case I run into a big kitty cat that doesn’t purr in your lap …

Whenever I go hunting, I bring my gun with me. However, I don't have it daily in my car because I don't need it. Regarding safety, I hadn't faced any issues yet when I had to use it. Perhaps people take their guns everywhere because they feel in danger or protect themselves. I once forgot it in my car when I went to a shop to find a holster. There was nothing wrong with it, but I still didn't feel good about having it. My friend found my holster on Best Holster for SIG P365 XL - Ballachy and said I should be more careful with the gun.

Depends on the situation...usually a Star M43 9mm or my latest Springfield Arm XD9

sketchy neighborhoods, yes
normal daily routine, not often
extended travel-road trip-solo, yes
extended travel-road trip-w/ family, definately yes

I have some summertime trips where i am hauling my racing motorcycles on a trailer...im considering taking my newly purchased AR15-pistol and having it stashed as a 'truck-gun' in the future...when im pulling that thing, i already know im drawing too much attention to myself...can you dig it.

the question is...for everyone who does carry, do you also report if you know youre going to cross state lines? im not asking everyone to plede the 5th, im just saying, the law is the law...

Report what? To whom?

If you have a valid concealed carry permit going to another state that has reciprocity, you don't have to call ahead to ask permission. You do, however, have to be aware of the laws in that state and respond accordingly... some states require you to tell LEOs that you're carrying when pulled over, others don't.

well, that is the rub...sometimes when im traveling, i am crossing 2, 3, 4 states over.

i do not have a carry permit, my state, which likes to call themselves the FREE state, doesnt allow anyone to earn a carry permit, youve got to have a 'reason'. where as the state right next to it allows folks to take a set of class-hours and earn a carry permit without much hassle.

go figure.

and thus, my questions about informing that next state, or states, over about your possession of this or that.

hey...it is what it is...we dont all non-cheat on our taxes either...shrug

I wouldn’t tell anyone that I’m concealed carrying. Why run the risk of someone overreacting. I’m in LE and have seen my fair share of shit bags who might overreact to knowing someone is armed.

Yeah, I could not agree more. I do not want LE or anyone to know that I'm carrying, when I do. I usually do on road trips but that's about it.

I think you misunderstand the law. There is no state in the Nation that requires you to "notify" anyone that you are bringing a firearm into their state. There are states that require you to notify an officer if you are detained (such as on a traffic stop). Maybe I'm missing your meaning, but you make it sound like there is a law that you have to call ahead and tell someone in a state government that you will be entering with a gun or let someone know as soon as you cross state lines, which is not the case anywhere.

The one exception to what I just said is an NFA item (not including supressors). If you have an SBR, you are required to get permission from the ATF to cross state lines with that particular firearm.

For the past two decades, I've taken a gun everywhere I went, whether I was at work or not. I recently was unable to for a period of time, and now, even though I can again, I often don't.

Better to have it and not need it, than to need it and never have a need for it again. I would never be without access to a firearm. They are defensive tools, not assault wepons. Carrying a gun is not for everyone I understand that, but remember if you are ever victimized you are the 1st responder to the situation by default.
