nikon D700... first full frame DSLR... a buddy of mine was going completely into mirrorless and moving away from the DSLR.. so he sold it to me for a great price.. well used but loving the opportunity to learn photography with it...
just like 4Runner modifications and stuff, all the accessories for these great cameras can break the bank real fast.

That was my first full frame body. Great camera. Get the external battery grip. Increases the FPS to 8.

Great camera, back when it first came out and still today!
I'm shooting either a D850 or D500, and jokingly call my T4R my camera bag.

You guys that jump out of perfectly functional planes for fun really are on a totally different level.
That said, not a bad skill to have.

I worked on planes and at the dropzone for years. There's no such things as perfectly good, planes in the sky just "meet FAA standards" Ive even had to bail out low once when a flock of geese decided to check out the inside of both our turbines. haha

Currently....
Nikon D300 (not worth the used price to get rid of, still a great, stable camera)
Nikon D7100
Nikon 50mm 1.8
Tokina 28-80 2.8 (hate the backfocusing issue, fine adjustment in camera isn't enough, I've had 2 of these and they both have the same problem)
Tokina 11-16 2.8
Nikon push/pull 80-200 2.8
Just picked up a cheap lens kit (28-80?) to have something small/lightweight for my wife to use on the D7100 (with the grip removed). The camera becomes far less intimidating to use.
Optech straps and even have a dual camera harness (though I haven't had a need for that in years)
Other cameras I had/used:
D40X
D80
D90
D7000
Never made the jump to FF....

Nikon D50. Been thinking of adding a D3400 for something cheap that should add a few features (such as video and much higher quality and range of settings, plus having only a 2GB card capacity is a royal pain), however good pics from a D50 are reaaaaaaaally good, having a hard time deciding if I want to replace it. Also have a Minolta XK kicking around, but dealing with film is a hassle. (Yeah yeah, lazy young person...whatever, probably true!)

I'm sure you're already used to it since you have a D50, but don't consider a 3000/5000 series body...
The on body AF motor opens up a huge range of older, cheap, and very good lenses. All of your AFS lenses will still work, but then you can use a 50mm 1.8 with AF and, new, they're under $150 - and one of the sharpest/lowest lenses you can reasonably buy. (I remember reading a scientific study Adorama had done to compare 1.4 to 1.8 50mm, both Nikon and Canon, and the photo quality on the 1.8s was actually "scientifically" better - the only thing the 1.4 had over the 1.8 was one stop lower).
Go to Adorama and buy a good condition used 7000 series (any of them will blow you away). What will really surprise you is the ISO capability.
I will say, however, that something around the time the D7000 came out the "look" of Nikon photos changed. That's, in part, why I keep my D300.
IMHO there's a huge difference in the color and saturation of Nikon vs Canon before that camera came out - Canon gets photos that are hyper-realistic, and Nikon has a bit of a "fantasy"/surreal look to them. When I first got the D7000 I was happy with it (I debated a D7000 vs D700 - and at the time a used D700 was still 2-3x the cost of a D7000 and the only thing the D700 had over the D7000 was full frame) but I noticed a somewhat "Canon" look to the photos.

Thanks for the input. I actually have the 50mm F1.8 and love it, I would hate to lose it's autofocus capabilities with an new body. So a D7000 would be compatible with that lens, as well as many others?

Whoops, I guess the D50 does have the on board AF motor..... forgot that the D50 was the predecessor do the D70/80/90, and not part of the D40, D40x and D60 (which then led to the D3000/D5000 models).
The D3000 and D5000 camera bodies (and the subsequent models like the 3100, 5100 etc) do not have an AF motor on the body, and in order to have AF you must use AFS lenses. Those lenses have an in-lens AF motor (AFS = Automatic Focus Silent, as in a 'silent wave motor') and are more expensive than a non AFS counterpart.
There might be new features to some lenses that an older body like a D300, D700, D7000 may not function - but those older bodies will always run things like AF, VR, metering (etc).

Canon M50
18-45mm
Nice little thing with punch.
Like the ability to transfer photos directly to my phone via Bluetooth.

I've been using Nikon for years:
Nikon D300 and D50
Nikon 50mm f/1.8
Nikon 35mm f/1.8G
Sigma 70-200mm f/1.8 EX DG APO
Nikon SB-700
Still love the D300, but I'd like to move to a newer body that includes a full frame sensor and Bluetooth connectivity to allow for quick offload of 14-bit RAW files.
