That code is where the legalities of tint are outlined, it doesn't say "we ticket everyone for revenue" because that makes us look bad. Each state has it's own policies. CA is one of the few states who will ticket you for violations even if it's legal in your state.
It's no different than getting a ticket for turning right on a red light. Just because you can do it in your state doesn't mean you are exempt from the law in others.
I admit it takes a huge dbag to ticket someone from out of state, but luckily CA has no shortage of those. I have much respect for officers who do their job properly; I was even a CJ major. But once I saw first hand the types of people many of them are, I switched majors.

That is completly different, right on reds depend on the intersection, rather irrelevant to the state, They can't ticket you if your vehicle conforms to your states vehicle restrictions. It's no different that driving a diesel vehicle in CA that is registered in NJ, even though it has less than 7,500 miles on it and it is illegal to own in CA, because it isn't registered in CA they can't do shit to you.

Sigh...
Please research before you post, especially you don't even live in CA.
Scroll down to CA:
Tint Laws
Read this thread, specifically the last post on page #3:

Happens in AZ too which has a much more lenient tint policy than CA:

All of these were found on the 1st page of thousands on a google search. So again, please research next time before you waste peoples time.

I seriously considered law enforcement too but was also disappointed by the personality types that seemed to occupy all aspects of law enforcement whether state or federal. I worked with a former Cali cop, Burbank, and he was the biggest pos I've met. Apparently depending on your attitude or the cop's mood, you could find yourself getting a roadside vehicle inspection with a pile of tickets to go with it.

So,I guess Cali can ticket most cars from out of state since most out of stater's cars wouldn't pass Cali's stringent emission laws. I'm sure there's a way out of a ticket like that.

The only way out of a ticket is if your vehicle is registered at another state and that state has no stringent emission laws (i.e. Louissiana).

Hey HB, I love driving down I-5 and looking over at a chippy as he is assessing my tint from the opposing lanes of traffic, the looks on their faces when they see a CVC violation is priceless. I sign off tickets all day at work and CHP comes up with the most BS tickets to issue, I love the stories.

The reason that I voted "No, I've never gotten a ticket" is that a) New Orleans cops are too busy catching murderers (I have friends that have driven right by cops with their limo tint and the cops just don't care usually), and b) I got a permit from the State of Louisiana because I carry around very high-valued equipment in my truck every day and I don't want it get stolen.

Until a month ago i drove a solara for 4 years. It had 5% tint all the way around. I got pulled over 5 times but never had my tint mentioned. That was in south carolina and colorado. Had to take a loaner from my dealership to drive to chicago one summer. I wasn't risking the cops there.
