I enjoy the bump and release every time. Sometime when I drive other cars and trucks I forget that they don't have that system. I've done it maybe 2-3 times and just go "whoops not my 4runner". lol

It does all of the starting for you. No need to hold the Key. I believe if the engine won't crank it gives up after so many seconds.

The only con I have is that I get so used to "bump start" then I get into the 3rd gen T4R and look like an idiot when I try to bump start it!

I bump start it too, I used to have a Highlander and now I'm in a 03 4Runner V8 so I didn't know it had it. But now I just bump it while I'm getting ready to go or whatever, let it do its thing. I like it.

The 2011 Dodge Nitro I had as a rental has it too. Just like the 4Runner, you can't double start and grind the starter.

I actually had a car that did this before I had gotten my 2005 Sport Edition, which is a Chevy Malibu Maxx (it's a company car). I got used to doing that with the Malibu that I would sometimes try it with the 3rd Gen 2002 I used to have. I felt like an idiot hen I did that. Now that my 2005 has it, I know that if I get any other car, I'm pretty sure I'll be bump starting that too.

I just saw someone mention bump key in another thread and wondered if they meant this! I didn't even know it was a feature until the key slipped in my hand and it started anyway. It's like a key-based start/stop button.
And yes I forget every other car doesn't have this feature...!
