Paid cash. I've had to buy all of my vehicles myself. First one was at 16, and this one at 27. I sold my Dodge Ram at a little bit of a loss just so I would have the cash to get the 4Runner...one of the best decisions I've ever made.

I really don't know what I'm doing. My parents took my half, I want to pay back the rest so that the title is in MY name, and I can do WHATEVER I want to it. Like lights, lift, turbo, everything little boys have wet dreams of XD

Bought my truck off of the man who had been driving it for the past 15 years. I was working with him at an auto parts company that he had been working at for ages. He wasnt even listing it yet but wanted to sell it. Why, you ask. Only reason: He had bought a 96. Guy loved these things, took care of his vehicles. = Most ideal situation for buying a 4Runner

My Runner is my 4th vehicle I have purchased since I started out driving at 16. Started out with a '99 dodge neon my parents bought me, then traded it for a new '06 Chevy Equinox LT (POS) when I was 19, had it for a year and a half and a dozen trips to the dealership mechanic. Traded it for a new '09 Camry LE when I was 21, least favorite vehicle but most reliable, had it paid off though in a year (thanks to hubbys job). Traded the Camry for my '07 Runner in 2010 because we had a cross country trip to make and I was ready to be back in an suv. Paid it off 2 months later thanks to my paid off trade in. Couldn't have made a better choice and I am done buying new vehicles for many years!! Lol

pretty cool stories, all! Always interesting to hear of people's first vehicles, of when we were naive and didn't have a wide range of driving experience (both on roads and in different vehicles) and hearing of people's experiences since and with their 4Runners.

I bought mine... traded in a Subaru lease early, used equity in that for the down-payment, and financed the rest at a cheap 2.75% APR. It's fun to remember the list of vehicles I've spent time with over the years... and I'm noticing a color trend!
1980 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Coupe - silver (mom's car, but I drove it most of the time)
1985 Pontiac Fiero 2M4 - silver (bought used in '88)
1988 Ford Mustang LX 5.0 - Medium Shadow Blue Metallic (bought used in '90)
1989 Toyota Celica ST - white (bought used in '93)
1989 Jeep Wrangler 4.2L - Islander Blue (bought used in '95)
1997 Honda Civic HX Coupe - silver (leased in '97)
1998 Toyota Tacoma TRD - Sierra Beige Metallic (leased in '98)
2001 Subaru Forester S-Premium - black (bought new in '01)
1998 BMW M3 - silver (bought used in '02)
1991 Mazda Miata MX-5 - white (bought used in '03)*
1998 Toyota 4Runner SR5 5-speed - Desert Dune Metallic (bought used in '04)
2008 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport - silver (leased in '08)
1998 Ford Escort SE - white (bought used in '10)*
2006 Toyota 4Runner Sport Edition - Titanium Metallic (bought used in '10)*
* = still have

I put 3500 down and then got a loan for the rest from my parents. And don't think they are just giving me money, they are charging interest and a payment schedule, but they did greatly help me out.
