Dad bought my 2000 for me as a graduation gift with 206K miles on it for $3000. I totaled it a year later at 220,000 miles and we negotiated a $5900 check from insurance
Didn't need to act to0 quick and drove my mom's grand cherokee for about 2 months, eventually found my '98 and bought it myself for $4300. with 170,000 on it. Original owner, all receipts, garage-kept.

Aunt and uncle bought it new in 06. Uncle (police officer) was killed in the line of duty in 09. Grandma had it until 2011 and then I turned 16 and got it. I'm sure my uncle would be proud of what i turned it into haha, he loved this thing.

Saved up during two deployments, sold my car, and took out a loan.

My first 4Runner I bought myself with some financing of course. My 98 Tacoma was totaled when some guy pulled out in front of me and I had gotten over $9000 for it (when it was 9 years old and 183,000...they really do hold their value!), so I used that to buy my 2002 Sport Edition Then, the 2002 was totaled in an accident that was my fault (long story) and I only got $6000 for it (which proved to me that Tacomas hold their value better than 4Runners). Bought my 2005 with that money with financing again.

Got mine a few weeks ago. I've had an ext cab tacoma 4*4 2004 about a year ago and loved that thing. I come from a family of Toyota owners. My folks back in Pakistan still have a 94 land cruiser (awesome machine), 2002 toyota hilux Double Cab and a Land Rover discovery (besides a 98 corolla and a few small cars).
My dad was so excited when I told him about my 4runner. These are still called 'Toyota Surf' back there, so I had to explain what a 4Runner was
Ohh, also my brother has a Land Rover Defender. Seems like a piece of crap from the pics that he sent me, but he LOVES it.

First found a 99 for $5000 last year, my husband totaled it. Got a check for $7400 saved a little more and found a 2004 for $10200, paid in full private seller on craigslist. About 8 months later after my husband not being able to drive my new one he started bugging me to find one for him!! Found one on craigslist for $9999 2003. It sucked having to save and wait BUT totally worth it now being able to say we own them outright

Went to the dealership, picked out a 4Runner, negotiated a price, wrote a check, drove away.

Well I sold my saturn due to some bent axle issues....
All I did was drift into a curb and nearly roll the thing. No idea how that happened.
My parents bought the a 98 with 184k for $4200 and told me it was their's but I got to drive it. Drove it for a year, sold it for $6500. I got 1800 out of the deal. Got a subaru. Drove it for a year. Missed the runner. Bought my 2000 w/ 130k for $6500 Cash, My money. Gave the subie to my dad, I have the runner. LIfe is good.

Mom owned it first then let it sit for awhile because she didn't want it then when it came time for me to drive she stuck me with it. Sometimes I wish that she would've bought me something else because the thing is admittedly a hunk of junk. I have nothing against 4Runners. I really like them actually. This one's just in bad condition. I am slowly fixing it up and making it something worth having. Emphasis on slowly. I seem to discover a new problem every time I fix something

I had money saved up from previous birthday's and after graduation I had about 1200.
Spent 900 on a 4runner my dad found on CL, then used the remaining money to fix my grandma's minivan, helped her sell it. Then used part of the money I got from it to buy a motor.
That was one fun summer haha

A little help from the parents and US Bank haha. This is my third vehicle primarily used to haul my boat to and from the lake. Always wanted a runner and glad I finally have one!

Went to the dealer, McCords of Vancouver, WA and told the salesman exactly what I wanted and exactly what I was willing to pay. He tried to "land me" on another one in the lot. He obviously didn't understand me when I said "Imperial Jade Mica SR5 Sport Edition" just like on the brochure, no more than $34,000. I ended up working directly with the manager and wrote the check. Had to wait for it to arrive from Japan. These guys were pulling in dealer incentives at the time.
