Does that disappoint you? From your recent posts on this forum, you seem to think that many folks here lack critical thinking...so, is BS degree not to your level of experience/thinking? Just wondering.

Disappoint me? Absolutely not....it's what I expected.
Don't misunderstand me...Just because there are a few boneheaded people here and there doesn't mean the forum is full of idiots. That's not at all what I'm saying. More importantly, it is my opinion that any degree (or lack thereof) has very little to do with common sense or critical thinking skills. I know people with no college at all who are much more intelligent than some of the people who were in grad school with me. College may make you educated, but it doesn't necessarily make you smart.

BTW, there was a similar thread on one of the BMW M3 forums and if I remember correctly, the majority of people had graduate degrees or higher.
It seems about right when you consider the demographics and the cost of the vehicles in question.

Not sure if you can make that leap of faith....
For example, some folks don't want to buy expensive cars or that they no longer want that...do these folks have lower education simply because they drive a Corolla?

Another example: me...Given a choice b/w a 4runner Trail Ed vs. Range Rover/GX/LX, i would pick the 4runner every single time. Why? As i have said in the past, i am staying away from luxury high end stuff because it creates too much attention for me and my family in public...and thus, creates possible threats. (Yeah, i am paranoid.) In addition, i can't stand to pay ridiculous maintenance costs. So, while i have had BMW M3 SMGII, G-wagen, etc., i will not be going back to them anytime soon....
So, does that mean that some guy in a Range Rover is automatically more educated than me in my lowly Prius or Sienna?

Come on Thai....I know what you're saying, but do you really think I'm trying to say that only highly educated people drive expensive vehicles? I read somewhere that the most educated people actually are MORE likely to drive lower cost hybrids (the vehicles themselves might not always be lower cost, but their operating costs and overall costs are usually lower than average).
At the same time, you can't deny that the more expensive vehicles usually require higher salaries and higher salaries usually go with higher levels of education. Again, I'm talking demographics here, not absolutes. I know plenty of people who make very high salaries and still drive small economy cars....but most of them view cars as appliances to get them from point A to point B. They are anything but enthusiasts. I also know other people who make really good money and drive expensive vehicles just as a status thing. So it takes all kinds to make the world go 'round.

I don't know, but it seems that you are implying something....
I think that it depends on the vehicle you're looking at. I would say that someone who buys a Lexus LS460L will likely has more education than a guy driving a tuned up Civic with coffee can muffler. A BMW M3? I don't know...plenty of them have cheaper homes than the cost of the M3!

This is certainly entertaining...
I understand where you're going with this and judging from the statistical standpoint and all. And really, no one should take offense, but I can certainly see how some may.

I agree with Thai. I say it depends on the age of the person as well. I got the 4Runner a couple years after finishing school. At the time, even after I got the 4Runner, I was still thinking about its garage mates. Today, I don't care about what I drive as long as it's reliable and safe, it's fine by me.
Having gone through the phase myself, I don't stop or say a thing when my younger cousins crave and spend all their savings on a particular car.
DocMT, I'm sure there are a lot of people who believe a car is a sign of status, education level, wealth, etc. A relative of mine lives in a neighborhood of million dollar homes, on their street, most have Hondas and Toyotas. One has two early 2000s Lexus and another has a recent model CLK500 and Denali. I know quite a few a six-figure earners (most have undergrads and some are still pursuing a degree slowly), but they don't own a car over $35k at the time it was new.

I agree with Doc that a higher education provides the means to buy a luxury car. Doesn't mean that person has to, but it can give them the option. Many highly educated people need a luxury car for their job. Your not going to take a client around in a 2nd gen, but a Lexus would be suitable.
Two of the richest guys in my town don't own luxury vehicles. One drives cars from the Toyota dealership his is president of and the only car he owns is a Volkswagon Thing. The other drives a 2010 Tahoe.
These days a college degree means squat anymore. I just graduated 1 1/2 years ago and lucked out with my job. Tons of my friends are working at restaurants, while they are still searching for career jobs.

I know a M3 owner who doesn't even his own house. But then again it's CA, the cheapest house is around the price of an exotic.

I said you should have added some college, LIKE EVERY OTHER EDUCATION POLL OUT THERE that I personally have seen! So many people just complete part of college, you say that you just want what people have completed, but put an AS degree, and as far as I know you cannot really get that any more. That's for Junior College.
Sorry but i think you left off an important field so I didn't vote

At 45 years of age, I doubt very seriously I am going back to college. I have some college, but not enough for a 2 year ( associates degree ). So high school is all I get?
I don't think so!
No vote from me either until there is a "some college" choice. This would be for people who have some college, but not enrolled or planning on enrolling.

High school drop out. Tested out on my GED 5 years later, it only took me a week to acquire my GED. I know a lot of people in my line of work with years of schooling that can't come close to doing what I do. On the other hand I am terribly unorganized and have very poor English skills. Bottom line STAY IN SCHOOL IT DOES PAY OFF!!!!
