What's the deal with a 3rd gen? Will it accommodate the 51515 (essentially the same but bigger diameter, 3.7")?

What's the filter orientation, are they prone to draining themselves out if the vehicle sits a long time?

I have not tried the Napa Gold 1515 yet. I know quite a few people who use the 1515 with great results. Supposedly, there is a minor size difference in the gasket size that does not interfere with the performance and fits nicely.

The only drawback to using a larger filter, like the 1515, is if you only do a lot of short trips. The oil will not totally warm up and you will not get the benefit of extended OCI of 10K miles if there are only short trips involved.

Quite a nice size filter by Wix/Napa in the 1515! I hope to try it out on some long, high speed trips to FL. There's a lot more filtering media and the Cellulose instead of paper filter is a BIG PLUS in this filter. From what I can tell, from looking at the specs, the 1515 has the same oil flow specs, silicone anti drain back valve and steel spring by-pass valve.

Has anyone used these filters on a 3rd generation T4R? I'd like to hear some comments and recommendations on this filter.

Thanks...

Fram Extended Guard XG3614 is what I use.

Don't mistake it for the Fram "orange can of death" because it's not even close.

I currently use mobile one oil and oil filters for my 4Runner. I have used purolator pure one oil filters before, but lately I've been stocking up on the 5 quarts of mobile one + mobile one filter for 29.99 deals at Autozone. Anytime I see this deal I buy a few now, so I'm pretty stocked up right now!

Have you tried to use Fram in your oil filter? I've read some sites and they are telling that it has a good quality, same performance as bosch..

Avoid Fram. WIX has PTFE if you're concerned about that, I've run Bosch.

I figure the stock one is the best so I never change the filter, just the oil.

:jaw drop:

Just kidding.
I just got my 4Runner but I use Wix in my other vehicles so I will continue to do so in the 4Runner.

Pure oil now, pure oil later...

BTW - I'm on a couple musclecar forums quite often and you can't give those guys Fram filters. Frams are some of the worst on the market, not my opinion but buy several reports. Don't buy them just for that grip crap...
