Not to be mean but,

When you are in your GC or Toureg, on the back of the flatbed truck, on the way back to the dealership....

Doesn't the roof and hood of the flatbed truck block your view?

I think that C & D should have mentioned this.

Personally, I just did not want the xreas.

Really I could go either way on the scoop; it's non functional, but sort of cool looking, so in the end I don't really care.

Or you could look at it like this:

46% of the people who participated in the poll own Sport Editions. The remaining 54% drive Limiteds or SR5s.... So the Sport Editions owners outnumber the Limited and SR5 owners, but not collectively.

I'm lucky: I'm the only person on this board with a functioning scoop.

However, since I'm an engineer, if I had bought a gasoline version, I would have chosen a scoop-less T4R.

I am glad I made a smart decision to buy Sport Edition because of the XREAS. The XREAS can be found in Luxury cars and 4Runner SE.
While I am not sure the hood scoop is functioning or not, can anyone get information to show the hood scoop is not functioning. Please

Open you hood and you'll see that its not functioning. Its possible to making it "functioning" by letting in air into the engine bay, but also rain, dirt etc would get in.

Cars that have functioning air scoops have the same set up and they don't have rain going in. Its got something to do with the air circulation/pressure.

Dirt/dust will always be sucked in.. that's why the filter is there.

Having the intercooler for a turbo (or even superchargers, if it's intercooled) in front of the vehicle is usually far more effective than mounting it horizontally and using a hood scoop.

That's why the majority of OEM intercoolers are mounted this way. If I had a turbo deisel, I'd rather have the intercooler up front where it belongs. And then I could have a non-functioning scoop on the hood

It makes the hood look like the hood on my brother's Subaru wagon with the fake hood scoop. Since it makes me think "Subaru", I would never want one.

Remember back before cell phones when "car phones" were popular? They sold fake antennas to stick on the outside of a window to make it look like you had a car phone.

Can you buy a stick on hood scoop?

Yes!

I like my scoop as it makes my 4R look mean, like the big dodge pickups.

The non-functioning hood scoop is lame, IMO.

I would also like to see Toyota bring back the rear E-locker.

Give the truck more headroom, and give it the gauges, HVAC controls, and transfer case shifter from the GX470.

I didn't really want the SE until I drove it back to back with a SR5 and I liked the way the XREAS felt and the design of it made sense. I didn't like the hood scoop at first but it came with the SE. Mine also had one of those OEM bumper guards on it and I did not like that either. The hood scoop and bumper guard has grown on me and now I like the looks better then the 4runners that don't have them. I know I'm weird
