Put it to good use:
Weld in a "floor" in the same plane as the stock hood.
Remove plastic that blocks the front,
Replace with metal door.
Voila! Overlanding bread toaster.

Toyota components are bullet-proof. Issues often arise from poor wiring, assembly and/or maintenance. Suspect those first.
Next only to our senses, the multi-meter is the most important electrical diagnostic tool. Spend $6 at Harbor Freight or $$$ blindly replacing parts.

My 2010 has the scoop. When I bought it (used) the scoop did not enter into the purchase decision. Some time when the modding bug bites I may arrange to have some art put in there. Like flames, or perhaps eyes, just to make it a bit more interesting. (Or weird).
I considered looking for a SR5 hood to put on my TRD Offroad. I hate it, it obstructs tour view, packs with snow, and it has to cost a little gas mileage. It is almost as bad ad the stupid oil filter. What is wrong with a "spin on".
