I checked my air filter today in my 96 SR5 and found it was full of pieces of torn paper towels and something else :wow2:. I'm not sure how the air is drawn in so could some kind of rodent made a home for itself during winter or someone stuffed it in there. These weren't the kind of garage gray towels but the white kind you find in a home kitchen. Not going to remove the filter untill i vacumm all that crap out. It spends most if the time not being used but did go back forth to work when we had snow. :rtfm:

Very much when a vehicle is parked for a long period. I have my landcruiser parked most of the time so I keep the hood open when I am at home to drive any potential rodents away. Dark places are the favorite nesting grounds for rodents.

Its worse with new cars lately it seems, but rodents aren't afraid to set up shop in dark areas like mentioned already

When a vehicle is parked for long periods of time during the winter, rodents will look for a nice dark safe place to build a nest. I use Tom Cat bait traps, one at each wheel. They eat the bait & go die somewhere. I have no nest's in my 3RZ which has been sitting since Nov.

I parked my Accord in the garage for a month when DDing my Limited & found eaten eggcorns & nuts crumbs in the engine bay but no nests.

Definitely a critter! The stock elbow opens up into the fender area, so he climbed the tire, went up the fender wall and found a nice cozy hole to make a home!

Well he or she didn't hurt anything so its cool. The garage door was closed all winter and i know one lives in there, seen it. Came out when running the snow blower guess it was the exhaust. We had a cat in their once and we feed him so to say thanks he left a mouse out our side door. Would have liked it better if he let the mouse live.:couch2:

Im going to be that guy. You should stop using poisons. The rats go die somewhere and then get eating buy other animals...birds, cats, ... Then those other animals die also and it just goes up the chain.

I like the sticky paper if i can't get the traps to work. I had to catch a few mice that got into my cab and I didn't want the blood on my carpet from the traps.

When I got my 4R it was a bit sluggish on the throttle. I opened the hood and upon further inspection I opened up the airbox. No joke it was packed to the gills and half way up the snorkel with dog food. The channels in the hood were also packed. And the inside of the frame rails underneath. Sat over the winter in the previous owners garage where there was a bag of dog food available and the mice/whatever decided to fill the truck with it. I pulled the air box out and poured it all out on the ground and it was about a 18" round x 5" high pile. Thankfully no wires were munched on but that was one of the weirdest things I've seen on a car. :crazy:

I agree, I bought the property next to my house & it has a garage on it. The garage was overrun with mice & the property overrun with Poison Oak, Sumac & Ivy. I used poison on the plants too. I needed to go Nuclear on the property. After the poisonous plants & rodents are manageable I will use safer methods.

OMG! thats soo gross haha. need a bio suit for that one.


Look into the method using a 5gal bucket half filled with water and smear peanut butter inside. You make some kinda ramp up the bucket and they jump/fall in trying to get the peanut butter and drown. We got like 20 one night back in the day.
