This is impossibly splendid!

Apparently, the guy lost control of his 4Runner on a muddy road and rolled it off of 600-800 foot of mountain side, he was the only occupant and thankfully ,he walked away safely!

Walked away safely? As in hopped right out and stood clear when it started to go?

Yeah, or thrown clear during the first roll onto hay bails...

Amazing how the rubber butt hitch plug stayed in.... mine disappeared after a week!

mtnbiker49 11-03-2018 03:01 PM

Yeah, so if there was a person inside the vehicle during the roll, they woud be DOA. The guy obviously jumped out immediately.

I agree...no way he rode that down and walked away. That thing is MASHED!

There is room for survival there. Look at drivers area. Door is pretty well intact. Roof above driver seat is not major deflected interior. Airbag deployed. He would be bangs up pretty good.. rib damage on center console area... but that is a survivable vehicle from what i am seeing. Since i do not see any "cuts" to the truck.. if he rode it down.. he would have had to Dukes of Hazards out the driver window.

Let me guess, pain killers and alcohol?

No clue, I wasnt there. Just hypothesizing on survivability. If you are saying you would need one or both of those to survive... it would help tremendously. I wouldnt say survival would have been exclusive to having those on board.

Newconvert 11-03-2018 04:19 PM

That'll buff right out

Well... there was more than one person when the pictures were taken. There's another arm in the last one. Sure looks like someone ghost drive it off a cliff. Drivers door still closed.

Ponsonby Britt OBE 11-03-2018 09:35 PM

I believe a healthy dose of skepticism is a fair response in this situation.

We don't all believe everything we see on the internet.

No, it was a sarcastic joke. For someone to think another person tumbled 800 ft down a mountainside and came away from that wreck breathing, they must be on something... You seem quite lucid though? ;)

Deraj2212 11-03-2018 10:44 PM

For losing control on a muddy road, the rubber sure looks clean

The story is significantly different from our experiences. That's why. It's normal to be skeptical of the highly improbable.

It's exceedingly improbable that he was driving with the door closed and seatbelt on and survived. Most people don't drive on roads so dangerous that they have to drive with the door open in a new vehicle. And that appears to be the only way this was survivable. That's why this is improbable.

Bet this dude staged it too.

mtnbiker49 11-03-2018 11:40 PM

There’s a difference between having a survivable cavity and physics. This vehicle was not slowly rolled down the hill. The damage was likely caused by a violent roll down the hill. The vehicle absolutely went airborn multiple times.

With my experience, the driver in this wreck would be dead. Is it possible to defy physics? Yes, but you have a better chance of winning the mega millions. Even then, a driver in this wreck would not be crawling out on their own. The steering wheel is blocking the windshield, the door absolutely will not open without having the door popped and hinges cut. The side curtain airbag wasn’t even cut, which would be one of the first things to do.

I want to see the chain of events this driver claims to have happened. Was he airlifted? He had to go to a trauma center I assume, as he must have had intestinal and/or brain damage from the impacts.

That’s all I’m saying. But if he defied physics, hope he gets better.

Dang, OP. You steal this off Reddit but fail to post the link of it?

Here is some clarity at what happened to the 4runner.

Here's the guy's new ride.

This thread demonstrates handily that a large segment of the population is not only just gullible to an extreme but literally living in a cartoon mindset with virtually zero common sense let alone a basic concept of physics...

I have cut people out of worse than that.. and they lived. I have also had crashes way milder and the person either was DOA or died later at hospital.

We're the Clinton's involved?

johnbt 11-04-2018 09:15 AM

It probably didn't look that bad until the tow truck driver finished winching it back up the hill. :)

cloud 11-04-2018 09:20 AM

So I guess I'll go external roll cage, with internal b pillar support behind a raging seat and six point harness.

This was nearly me in my 4th gen in Colorado. Scary that this is only 6-800 feet. roll cage may mean ****all on a 3k foot roll.

“Bad bruises and small cuts” he said on reddit.

If he survived this, shouldn’t he be satisfied with the 5th gen safety restraints? Why would you go through that and then get into an older vehicle?

nvbirdman 11-04-2018 06:50 PM

Cleaning the upholstery would probably be a bigger job than the bodywork.

What do the Clintons and politics have to do with this? There’s no room for political BS on this forum. And learn to spell.

Jeremy556 11-04-2018 11:51 PM

You don't say...

"Why a 4th gen instead of another 5th gen? Not that I disprove. 4th gen V8s are my favorite."
"it was partially due to two things: 1) i can save more with lower monthly payments and get more accessories/parts"

As others have said he probably was struggling with payments. So now insurance “helped” him get a 4th gen.

It's because the internet is full of lies. Reddit is one of the worst and is unfortunately how many young people form their view of reality these days. It's just one example of a million deceptions every day.
