04 T4R - found a fix for annoying Range/mileage error - E01 on HVAC console (Techron)

Been struggling to fix a couple annoying things but found a solution for this one.

Had problems initially with the outside temp displaying in Celsius, a new air temp sensor in the hood fixed that. This problem also happened around the same time - the "distance remaining" value that you can toggle through would just display E01. Over 200k miles now so I figured I'd live with it.

Bottle of Techron fixed that, and 2 fill-ups later. I just used the regular type not the high mileage. Topped it off completely the 2nd time and bam- back to working within a mile of the gas station.

Does anyone know where it reads from? I thought I'd read there was a sensor on the #1 fuel injector so maybe it cleared the build-up.

I always thought the range was calculated by knowing how much gas was in the tank and what the MPG was at that time. I'm surprised that adding Techron affected the range value.

Where in the hood is that outside temp sensor?

The sensor is behind the grille and in front of the radiator, it's clipped to the center brace if I recall correctly, it's very small and has 2 wires going into it.

Cool, thanks. I learned something new today. :)
