A/C hot on driver side, Cold on passenger

I just had my Compressor replaced a month ago and had it recharged by a reputable shop. It has been working fine but I just noticed that it was so hot when I had the A/C on cold and I felt the vents and it is easily a 10-20 degree difference between the two. Any Ideas? I just replaced Cabin Air Filter, but nothing changed, I check refrigerant amount and it is in the correct amount.

Do you have a Limited with the Dual Zones AC?

If so I'm guessing the driver side blend door actuator is bad or going bad or see the last sentence below, if it's not a Limited/Dual Zone then many have experienced a similar issue from being low on freon, but I would first get the freon checked again to be sure it's fine because if it's low it could be the issue no matter if it's single zone or dual.

Where is the blend door actuator located? Is there a diagram anywhere that would point to it?

The passenger's side actuators are behind the glove compartment and there's many topics on access and how-to replace it/them, but I'm not quite sure on the driver's side for the dual zone system, maybe others will chime in that may know where it is and how to access it.

But as I mentioned I would check the freon first before checking/doing the actuator since being low can many times have your same symptoms, which could be the problem since you said it was working OK and only started this recently, the hot weather could only be a coincident.

Just finished up with my own personal analysis and I've determined I have a leak somewhere. I recharged it and the A/C is cold on driver side now. Bringing it back to shop for free leak detection to find where it is and how much money it wants to steal from me.

Sorry to hear it's a leak, hopefully it something simple and not the evaporator, just a word of warning, if it turns out to be the evaporator it's going to be expensive just to replace that $100 part, it is buried deep with the dash and the entire dash has to be disassembled all the way to the firewall to get to it, if you have to get that done go ahead and also replace the heater core which is within the same enclosure in case it goes bad somewhere down the road and it all has the be remove again to replace the heater core, and make sure whoever does the job really knows what they're doing or there could many issues afterwards if everything is not put back together correctly, we're talking wiring harnesses, AC duct work and controls and lots more, make sure they label everything and take lot of photos before and as they're taking everything apart!!

Not trying to scare you but figure you should be prepared for the worst, here's a link to webpage where they replace the evaporator on a 2007 Kia Sportage, when you get close to the ends of the article you will see there nothing where the dash was except the metal firewall.

How to Replace the AC Evaporator on a 2007 Kia Sportage | AxleAddict

Why auto engineers can't figure out how to build these AC systems so you wouldn't have to do that much works simply to replace a $100 part I'll never know!!

Driver Side driver side blend door actuator 2004 replacement

Looking for some support.

My driver side blend door actuator on 2004 Ltd has been making noises and constant opening and closing. I can see the unit from under the dash to the right of the gas pedal and was hoping for some guidance, direction before I start pulling apart the center console.

I wasn't able to find other treads on this topic.

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks
John

Do you know for sure it's charged?? I've seen this before - where it was simply low on refrigerant.

- Passenger side hot cold blend door actuator
- Driver side hot cold blend door actuator
Thank you
