Gas pump question

Does anyone have any problems on their runner when filling up? My 02 sr5 cant make a good seal with the pump ever, so when I try to leave it and have it auto-pump, it shuts off after a few seconds. Now holding a pump by hand and forcing it in to make a good seal isn't the worst thing ever, but to a lazy college student like myself, its a pain in the ass.

Any suggestions?

What do you mean "good seal"? A seal isn't necessary. I would try positioning the nozzle either further in or out from your usual, and try again. I've never had problems leaving mine on the auto-hold.

lol you've not been to the great state of california huh? The tree huggers here have made the pump have to be able to contain the fumes when you fill up the tank.

to the original poster, i've had to do that a couple times, but usually i get irritated and only put enough in it to go to another gas station lol. If it happens at EVERY gas station, then you need to take a look at the purge system on your truck. you may have a line that is clogged, or pinched, or a purge valve that is stuck.

Oh yeah and never move to Florida, they don't have the auto on the pumps, you have to hold the handle the whole time every time!

Oh yeah! Nope, Wisconsin doesn't care about fume reclamation. But when I visit the St. Louis area, I'm always pissed at the huge rubber condom on the pump nozzle.

We have those pumps here in MA as well, have for a good 10 years. We also don't have the auto hold feature, though you can still find it here and there. I have no trouble filling the Runner, but when I first used them filling my motorcycle was a huge pain, as mentioned the pumps would just turn off every few seconds. I don't know if they have fixed the system or I have just adjusted, but I never have an issue anymore.
