Tales of a Cursed 5th Gen :(

At 5000 miles she got an oil bath and damaged TRD Pro rims…

On Wed this week, she rolled over 7500 miles on a 68 degree bluebird 2nd day of Spring and will be getting a new rear bumper, right quarter panel, tail light, etc :(

Yep, rear ended on I-15 SB in Murray, UT by a Turo Rental Cadillac Escalade that misjudged how big his nose was when attempting a lane change in stopped gridlock traffic. He was going slow but still a solid blow to my right rear corner.

They’d just arrived from NJ for the weekend. Has insurance but Turo rental coverage might get interesting. Fingers crossed…

F’ing awesome, but definitely could have been much worse. Can anyone recommend a good exorcist? Beginning to think she might be cursed :(

If it wasn’t for the buckled quarter panel, this would be a compelling argument that the only way to break free from the curse is to install a steel bumper ;)

If you have collision on your 4Runner, you should never have to deal with the other guy's insurance. Your insurance company will do all the work for you.

I had a young college student (Weber State University) from Arizona slide on the ice into my 4Runner back in December. Going north on US 89 in Kaysville. My insurance company arranged for the repairs at a facility of my choice, then went after the other insurance company for reimbursement. My insurance even issued me a statement, that because the other driver was at fault, my driving history would not impacted and my rates would stay the same.

It would be best if you have a police report that shows the other driver was at fault. In my case, the other driver was charged with "failure to stay in lane".

I'd get it fixed, and trade it for a new one. Don't forget diminished value.

yeah, they botched an oil change and i think left the fill plug out and drove it and it threw oil all inside the engine bay and cowl area, and he asked them not to rotate the wheels, and they rotated the wheels and scratched them all up.

Yep, local dealer on a Saturday before a road trip. Never gonna make that mistake again… More details here if you’re interested:

First 5000 Mile Service = Oil Bath & 4 Scuffed TRD Pro Wheels! ARRGH!!!

They replaced the wheels they damaged and the oil got cleaned up so ultimately just a minor bump in the road…

Ridiculous, they did similar for me. Dumped oil all over my engine bay and put oil all over my brand new $300 Odyssey batter. I also told them not to touch my aftermarket wheels and they scuffed up the lug holes on all 4 wheels when they did a "courtesy rotation"

I read your oil change chronicles, and now this?? It may be cursed.

Dislike! Sorry you had a similar experience during what should be a painless process.
