2010-2013 Trail Hardware Kit
Does anyone know what the PN is for the pre-facelift trail (2010-2013) roof rack hardware install kit?
I think it might be PT278-35070HW? But the Amazon link doesn't seem to have the nub pieces, just screws and washers. https://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Toyot...e%2C120&sr=1-1 I found this thread that references the FJ cruiser hardware kit, but again, only appear to see screws and washers. https://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-g...f-rack-15.html I have a 2016 trail that I'm installing the pre facelift rack on but the hardware kit that came with it is quite beat up and I couldn't get a secure fit when I tried to install so think I need a new install kit. Thanks in advance! |
What nub pieces are you referencing? I used hardware kit PT27835130HW when I installed the trail rails on my '21 ORP.

The piece(s) I was referring to are in this picture: |
From what I remember I replaced those brackets with new ones though I didn't have to. Part # is 6318542020 and they're cheap.
This is what the rails look like on my ORP. https://i.imgur.com/DQXcF3c.jpg |
Looks great! Thanks so much. Okay I will order PT27835130HW and 4 brackets as well because they are cheap. No issues installing on your end? Did you follow instructions or anything?
|
No it's pretty straight forward. I think I found the torque specs somewhere and followed those so as not to over/under tighten and also tightened them uniformly. The brackets are worth spending the extra few bucks on because new ones come with fresh gasket material on them that you won't be able to save from the old ones.
One thing to be mindful of is once you get the roof rack off, you will see two white "tubes" that stick up and the bolts go through at each attachment point. If you dislodge those and they fall into the vehicle, you'll have to drop the headliner to get them and reposition them. |
Thank you! two white tubes in all 4 places? Perhaps this was my issue when trying to make this work a while back w/ old hardware. I couldn't get a solid fit

The 2 white pieces circled. If those get pushed downward too far you have to pull down the headliner to get to them.

Big question
Here is the big question.
I was going to add another set of cross bars to my trail rack (11). Ordered the bars, went to install and the hardware did not come with the bars. The directions show that it is parts of the bars. Went back to the dealership and show them the problem. A few days later, after checking a couple of other packages and calling other dealers, Toyota apparently removed the hardware that slides into the rails, nuthatch the cross bars attach to. The dealership said perhaps that hardware is now packaged with the rails. So the big question is, has anyone had to replace that hardware, have a part number or now where to purchase it. |
