CarPlay stock

What years/models of 4Runners have CarPlay as a standard feature? I am looking to upgrade my 2010 Limited to something newer, but I definitely want CarPlay.

2020+ but it can easily be added to earlier years, using aftermarket head units. These days it’s simple with plug & play kits.

I know you said you were looking for stock BUT if you decide to add an aftermarket head unit, I suggest the cartrimhome t10 3.1.

It's a 12.3" screen with wireless carplay. Looks and performs excellent on my '15 limited. Either way, I agree that carplay is a must. Good luck!:thumb3:

So ALL model variations starting in 2020 came with CarPlay stock?

few good threads on retrofitting a 2020 plus oem car play. I did retrofitted one and love it! Tad more modern and enjoy the car play. I bought a head unit off ebay at a good price and purchased the transplant harness below.

check out the following link , it can be done with both versions jbl/ non jbl.

Toyota backup camera harness - Stereo Install Kits

there are a few options to bring carplay to current head unit you have. After market plug and n play option. They plug into the back of the head unit and provide carplay or android.

Yes, thanks. To be clear, I am looking at getting an entirely new (to me) vehicle and not simply upgrading the head unit on my 2010.

It appears so, along with some upgraded safety features.

The 2021 added LED low beam headlights with halogen DRL high beams. There are excellent upgrades for the DRL/high beams out there.

My 2023 has CarPlay but it is wired only as far as I can tell. No wireless without getting an adapter.

How’s the sound compared to stock stereo? I find the sound output on my 2018 orp to be severely lacking

It's a noticeable improvement! Although, I do have the stock jbl setup in my limited so the sound wasn't terrible to begin with.

I bought a Corehan 10 in double din. Support gave me a list of parts to buy, wired it all up and my sound is like 5% of what it should be. Think it's because they gave me parts of a JBL unit with a seperate amplifier.
I've bought a $10 harness now and I just have to figure out which wire is the reverse wire and try to follow these tapping instructions for the SWC then I can test it out again.
