My First Time Off-Roading!!

So basically, in late 2008 my Dad bought a new '09 G55 AMG, but said that it was too expensive to be off-roading in since I think he paid like $120K for it. I was always dreamed of going off-roading, and in case you guys don't remember me (I've been inactive), my Dad bought me a loaded '13 SR5 4Runner for my first car around 4 weeks ago, (my birthday wasn't until August 12th though). So, today me and my dad went off-roading at Freeman's Park, Carolina Beach, since we own a beach house at Carolina Beach, and we thought we needed some father and son time.

Boy, it was amazing!!! Everyone complimented me on my 4Runner, even the people with the lifted Chevy's and huge Confederate flags (I'm an Indian Republican/Redneck so wasn't expecting their compliments. I had so much fun camping Saturday overnight and just meeting other people with 4WD cars. There were also so many FJ-Cruisers and 4Runners there!! It was amazing! I can't wait to go back next weekend.

I'm gonna be needing Off-Road mods soon, and I definitely couldn't have gotten a better first car!!

That's awesome! Welcome to the wonderful world of off-roading! I see you are running around in the sand. Airing down is crucial in the sand if you don't want to get stuck. May I suggest some of the best mods you can make for that sort of activity?

Staun Tyre Deflators

VIAIR Corporation - Portable Compressors

Don't forgot to thoroughly wash the underside....

You may also want to look into this as well:

Wheeler's Recovery and Tree Straps

ARB Heavy Duty 3/4" Shackle

Warn Heavy Duty Receiver Shackle Bracket

Take care of your basic recovery/air down needs 1st, then get the other mods on your wish list...

Thanks guys! When I get home today I'll definitely look into everything you all have posted!

I think you'll be needing a solid front axle swap, t-case with two low range gears, full complement of trail armor and sliders, and suspension AND body lift with some 37" tires... otherwise you may not get any further out on that beach.

I'm definitely going to be getting the mods, but I was actually able to get to the end of the beach when we had it in High-4.

Congrats on the new runner. Carolina Beach is a good time and great place to relax and enjoy the beach. Actually going to be in Cape Hatteras end of September for my sons 2nd Birthday. Enjoy the runner and happy modding.

Oh, now I feel like an idiot. Should've read his comment more thoroughly.

Full set of trail armor

Thanks! Yeah, I love it there, it's not crowded like Myrtle or OB, and it's really calm. Have fun at Hatteras and make sure to post pictures!

I can't wait to get the little guy out there! Going to be a blast. Will not be taking the Runner this trip. Live in Missouri and the little guy isn't ready for that drive. Yeah OBX has changed a lot since I was a kid. Lot of beach closed off and just way more tourism and people not respecting the beach. Haven't been in 3 years so should be interesting. I'm from Greenville and pretty much lived in Buxton over summer. Parents use to own a house in Frisco as well. You and your dad should check out Uwharrie National Forest if you want to hit some trails. Only couple hours from Cary.

I'll make sure to try it out when my bike rack and shockworks grill guard I ordered get here.

Also I'm getting a lift installed soon so I'll wait for that too!

This thing I mean: ShrockWorks 2010 + 5th Gen 4Runner Winch Bumper, Bull Bar, Front Bumper

All the other sites had them listed as grill guards so yeah I typo'd.
