95 4runner 3VZE won't stay running unless I give it gas

I am having some annoying issues with my 3VZE, motor has basically almost been rebuilt, new heads, new head gaskets, new timing belt, water pump and boats load more of shit, one of the last issues that kept giving me trouble was code 24 for my air flow meter (My dumbass messed with those two screws) my grandpa in law tried to resolder the broken connections and did a piss poor job, on top of that when I removed the connector it broke on me, so I caved in and bought a new connector and took a chance on an eBay air flow meter, got rid of the code, but truck wouldn't idle above 450 and ran like garbage,

returned the eBay VAFM and instead took my old one to an electrical repair shop, he resoldered the connections and I butt connected the air flow meter wires, truck ran perfect and no code 24, but three days later....

The truck wouldn't stay running, would idle till it's almost warm and then straight up dies unless I give it gas, when the truck finally dies, it throws 3 codes now, 24, 31, and 32

All related to this stupid air flow meter

I'm at a loss, I just also put new brakes and new wheel bearings just for it to sit in my yard now, my girlfriend tries to drive the damn thing with two feet....please help me

I know you’ve been trouble shooting the heck out of the air flow, but have you looked beyond it? It sounds like a ton of things have been done as far as maintenance.

Have you made sure that all vacuum hoses are connected and connected to the right locations?

When it does run, how well? With your timing belt job I wonder if you might be off a hair.

Have you checked other items like relays and fuses that might have been triggered?

Timing job was done by a mechanic, stops running when it's warmed up, smells like fuel when it's shuts off

Did you have any luck troubleshooting this? I have a similar issue, but my rough running comes and goes a bit. It will fire back up if I give it gas, but it acts and smells like it's flooding.

Smells like fuel when it dies?
I'd personally be looking at the fuel system.
How's the fuel pressure?

I should have posted sooner. My issue ended up being the coolant temp sensor. I had a small antifreeze leak in one of the small hoses at the back of the intake and it must have gotten wet when I pulled the hoses to re-clamp. In my case, all I had to do was pull the connector off and blow in it. When I reconnected, my issue went away.

Mine was doing basically the same thing... would iddle rough when warm, died out at stop signs and smelled like it was flooded.

Issue was found and truck runs better than ever before

My wire job was pure shit and I had a mechanic fix the wiring job I did, turns out there was multiple breaks in the wire so all better now

Well happened again and was suspecting that my plugs may be bad, turns out the shitty duralast plug wires was melted into the tip of the plug on cylinder 3, i suspect more than one is also like this
