4Runner is the Land Cruiser Prado.

Just wanted to share that the 4Runner,Gx and Fj Cruiser are all basicly different versions of the Land Cruiser Prado all three are made in the same ensemble line as the Prado. And the Prado shares almost everything with the 4Runner/Gx/FJ. GX Luxury version & 4Runner spartan version. The Tacoma shares a lot with the Hilux. Be proud, You're all Land Cruiser Prado owners.

would like to see the math on this , how did you get the 95%?

RoadWarrior 12-18-2021 05:56 PM

I wouldn't get lost in the exact percentage I just put that out as an example. The 4Runner, Gx and Fj are ALL different versions of the Land cruiser Prado. 💪

The Prado has a legendary history around the world so I would say yes imo.

Anyone know if any Toyota windshields are interchangeable?

Had a stone hit the other day that made me wonder what I would do in the event of a glass crack.

Finslayer83 12-18-2021 06:39 PM

yes and no.

sharing components doesn't mean it's the same.

If anything the Limited model is the closest.

If they made the 4Runner a Prado moving forward (GX460 currently here in US) - I'd love it.

Prados v6 the gx is not. 4runner is technically closer to the Prado. A lot of GX owners take pride In thinking their the only prado siblings. 4runner and Fj are also prados sharing almost all exact parts. Hate to break it to you gx guys

I'm pretty sure it's common knowledge amongst 4Runner enthusiasts, that the mentioned vehicles share the same platform.

Yep, and the 3rd gen is a Hilux Surf.

I only wish they offered the V8 in the 5th gen 4runner.

The Tacoma is not the same as the current or recent Hilux.

The 4Runner,Gx, and Fj share almost everything with the Prado, The Tacoma shares a LOT with the hilux.

Like the Fj and 4Runner The Gx is also not 100% identical to the Prado its the luxury version of the Prado and the 4Runner is the Spartan version. I prefer the Spartan version, IMO The Toyota 4Runner rear hatch is a better design and Long term durability 4runner probably wins, it's nearly 1000lbs lighter weight with the same running gear and a less powerful engine. Everything should be less stressed over time.

Curb weight difference depends on model, and trim.

The GX curb weight is 5100+ lbs, give or take a bit. The curb weight of my TRD ORP W/KDSS, was just under 4800 lbs. It's gained about 100 lbs in tire weight, and other additions.

So completely stock for both, the difference in weight is approx 300 lbs.

Of course the lightest 5th gen would be a 2wd SR5. They are about 400 lbs lighter than my ORP in stock curb weight.

So the difference is now one morbidly obese person riding with you perpetually I can definitely see 4Runners lasting longer due to less stress over time. Now when you compare the base level 4R trim vs the gx it becomes two morbidly obese people perpetually riding with the gx owner could you imagine? no wonder for the bigger engine, yeah I'll take the lighter version of the Prado all day for less stressed components
