Water pump replacement on the 4.7

1 Attachment(s)
So I've made it this far (attached) by following this video (for V6): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-5Jeyw1cyS4

I believe at this point the remainder of the fan assembly (1) has to be removed and from there I'm not sure where to go. After going down the YouTube rabbit hole again, I'm running into "timing belt and water belt replacement". This is adding a layer of confusion for me, as I'm not sure if all of the accessories, covers, and timing belt need to come off to get this out?

Can anyone reference a write up or video for water pump removal on the 4.7?

Thanks!

Water pump and timing belt are generally done at the same time. Why are you only replacing the water pump?

The water pump needs to come off before you get to the timing belt either way, so those videos should help.

If you don't replace the timing belt at the same time you risk it breaking later on especially if the timing belt hasn't been replaced recently (Toyota calls for replacing the timing belt every 90,000 miles as normal maintenance) , if it does break it will make the valves hit the pistons at which point the engine is toast and will need to be replaced, much cheaper and good insurance to just go ahead and replace the timing belt when doing the water pump.

Thanks for the replies. The timing belt was replaced around 40k ago (not sure why the pump wasn't done then)

Even at 25-30k? miles, does it make sense to replace both while it's all torn into?

Seeing you're in there, I would replace the belt at the same time. You mention the belt being 40k ago but how many years? Time is also part of the service interval equation. I see a notation on one of the sites that says 72 months for time.

The time on the belt exceeds that- it was replaced roughly 6~ years ago.

I'll pick up a new belt and go from there.

So here is the water pump replacement I ordered: More Information for AISIN WPT800
Also picked up a thermostat (2007 TOYOTA 4RUNNER 4.7L V8 Thermostat | RockAuto) and the gasket (More Information for AISIN THP108)

As far as the timing belt and anything else that may be needed/smart to replace at this time. Is this what I'm looking for?
More Information for GATES TCK298

Thanks again

I recently went all out because I don't want to go back in for another 100k.

The AISIN timing belt kit should also include water pump, tensioners, crank seals everything you need while you're in there.

I already have the water pump in hand as I wasn't aware this should be a combo deal when it was purchased - would like to avoid returning things.

It's odd that the AISIN timing belt isn't an option on rockauto?

Aisin only sells the kit with the water pump. So if you aren't looking in that section, you won't see it.

Aisin TKT-021 is the kit you want if you go with Aisin, it includes a new tensioner and the required pulleys for the timing belt job, as well as the water pump.

edit: Just decided to return the water pump that I had previously ordered and place an order for the Aisin kit.
