2021TRD pro 4runner roof rack system
 
So I have a 2021 TRD pro with the factory roof rack. I would like to add wider roof rack bars to accommodate a rocket box and paddle boards. Is there a system that attaches to the factory rack to enable this? Thank you

There are no aftermarket crossbars for the Pro rack. There are members who have put various storage boxes on without issue, though. You may need the Yakima mighty mounts depending on your box mount style. For paddle boards, why not just move your crossbars to the upper level to create the platform?

There are a bunch of Pro rack threads, and it has been done, but holy cow it puts those pods and other accessories way up there. It's a pretty poor rack for carrying anything serious, so that's why you see people replacing them with regular roof racks. It looks cool though.

im actually looking to have both, my SUP and the rocket box on teh roof. I figured someone would make an attachment to attach to the oval crossbars that would hold a another cross bar wider than the truck.

anything like that?

so are there no attachments that will grab on to the factory crossbar which would allow me to add a longer crossbar? or even an attachment to grab the round rack frame to allow for a longer crossbar? I really need to get a rocket box and Stand up paddle board side by side. right now that's not a choice at all.

I have a similar inquiry- I have the factory roof rack on my 2021 3rd pro 4 runner and looking to possible install a Thule or Yakima cargo box for surf boards and other gear and also have some other exterior storage on the roof rack if possible. Any suggestions? I just found this one out there with the existing factory roof rack; but if there's another roof rack that is well equipped for maximizing the storage space and possibilities I'm open to hearing those! Thanks so much!

I removed the useless TRD pro rack, sold it on marketplace. put on a yakima with 70" wide bars. I put paddle boards and roof box on top and truck is more useful.

And horrible clearance. I can still get my Yakima box mounted in my Front Runner Rack in my garage. No way in hell that would work with that setup.

The TRD Pro rack is honestly just arguably good for apperance. Not anything else in my opinion.
