second opinions on these T4Rs?

I'm going to check out this dealership tomorrow. They have a few 3rd gens.
Take a look and let me know what you think.

I personally like the white 2002 but the front left part of the bumper looks messed up. Pass on the second one, looks like it has paint oxidation and the last one looks pretty darn clean from what I see.

Can't really say much about price since it varies so much by location. If both the 00 and 02 are clean and no rust, I'd go with what ever color you like best. E-locker on any of them?

if you click on any of the pictures in the ad it takes you to the dealer website with a better gallery maybe that can tell you more about which is better? i dont know a lot about 4runners and what options are better to have

Read through here........

Ask if you have any questions.

if you go for the first one id try to talk them down because the front bumper looks messed up on both sides and the drivers seat cloth looks messed up but its blurry..

Is there nothing good in the private party?

Of the 3 you posted #3 is the best "looking" one. Nothing much better then you looking at them yourself and driving.

And yes the buyers guide will give a solid platform to gain a lot of knowledge.

rexberg is out by driggs right? i had to drive to driggs in november for a firefighter test

I went and test drove #1 today and i really liked the way it drives. it didnt pull to one side or the other on braking and accelerating. no strange noises or anything. I liked it a lot but the dealer wouldnt budge on price. said he had a buyer lined up willing to pay sticker if his mechanic liked everything. so i told him to call me if he doesnt sell it.

they had 3 3rd gens there but i only test drove the one. the green 2000 looked like someone had spray painted over rust on the rear axle and definitly on the hitch.

here are some pics. do you think its really bad?

Head south if you have the chance. You may pay more in airfare and drive time but in the long run rust free is very nice to have. I'm in NH and flew to S.Carolina to buy my Runner. I had a buddy coat the underside this fall and I expect to rust free for quit a while. I looked for two months and I know the one when I found it. Good luck.

PitbullRescuer 02-05-2013 12:11 AM

I dont think the rust is bad but I think without service records, they're over priced.

zgensler31 02-05-2013 01:23 AM

I would agree with pit bull, the rust doesn't seem to be bad, simply surface from what I can tell. But that's only the rear axle, there are other areas to look at.

That said, the rust isn't bad, if your willing to put in the work to clean it all up, and protect it from future rust...if not, head south.

Is it just me or does #1 and #2 have funked up front bumpers?
They seem to be having Saggy McBottom Pants going on.
