Classics Go To Moab III

I'm going to take the lead on this one, because @Footofgod has done the lions share of planning the first two and already has an Ouray trip in the pipe. Thanks FoG!

As always, this is open to anybody who wants to come, not just 1st/2nd gens. Bring your 5th gen, bring your Taco, bring your Landcruiser, bring your Jeep if you think it'll keep up :). We don't intend to break anybody's truck while we're down there, so don't be scared away by thinking your stock rig can't hang - you'll be with a solid crew and some good spotters, this is a GREAT chance to experience wheeling the red rock if you haven't been yet.

I'll be editing this first post with details as we hammer stuff out.

UPDATE - official dates are 4/24 to 4/27. We're intending to stay at Moab Rim campground/rv park.

Lets nail down some dates in the next week or so, so that folks have the best chance of getting time off requests in and planning ahead. February might be a little cold and snowy still, and it starts to heat up in May, so we're looking at March and April. Here's a link to the Moab calendar: Moab 2013 & 2014 Calendar of Events - Get up-to-date Moab event information from the official tourism website for Moab, Utah..

Personally, I like the days around the weekend of March 29th or April 26th.

thanks for heading this up kid. i'm planning on coming, and my usual wheelin' buddy is upgrading from a heep to a classic bronco this winter so this may be his maiden run with it.
we typically try to run a mix of trails so we can all have fun. if anyone is uncomfortable taking their rig on any particular trail, they're welcome to hop in, there's usually plenty of available seats (thats why we drive 4runner's right?) so there should be plenty of fun for all

I like this idea. We'll keep some days stocker-friendly, and reserve a couple days for the harder trails and the guys with mild trucks can ride shotgun and take photos and stack rocks :). Or if we get enough rigs, we could always split into groups for a day or two so the guys with the built rigs can go break their junk on Pritchett!

What happened to the Colorado trip next year, or is that still in the works?

If I had to pick a date between the two - April 26th will work for us. We definitely want to get back there, and explore more than Canyon Lands.

That is still in the works.

I'm possibly down for April 26th.

Count me in tentatively for now. Hopefully by that time my runner will have grown up thanks to tax return season. I should be at least 3" suspension on 33's so I'll be willing to run a ton more stuff.

Spring is not the best time to be playing in the CO mountains, so I'm sure the plan is for two different trips. Late August, or sometime in Sept. is your best bet for open high-country routes (like Black Bear Pass--make sure your brakes work good!).

As set of Hawk HPS brake pads are going in the front tomorrow.

That would certainly make the long journey a lot more interesting!
